My supply of the original Future floor polish is almost gone. Interested to hear what the community has been using to dip canopies as a replacement.

Cheers
Jamie

Did you not get the memo?

December 5 2017, 10:22 PM

As frequently reported here on this forum, Future has changed names several times since it originally appeared. I believe the current name is "Pledge Floor Care Multi-Surface Finish." It's the same stuff.

Search this forum for "Future" to learn more.

Memo?

December 5 2017, 11:02 PM

Yeh have read stuff over time on the board. But I had a supply then so didn't take it all in. Im in Australia so the product branding is not the same.
Was looking for info on some of the products designed to be used on models, read some reviews some time back of several new products, it was them I was after.
Thanks for the info though will check the super market here for a similar product.
Cheers
Jamie

Pledge in Australlia

December 5 2017, 11:41 PM

Pledge is available in Australia, it's not as cheap as it is in the USA but it is available.

Looks like they are out of stock at the moment, might be worth an email to see of they are getting any more stock.

is what I use, but it seems to have gone the way of the Dodo and has been replaced by another product line of which I am unsure of.

"Memo" was a reference to the many "What is Future called now?" posts.

December 6 2017, 2:33 PM

It is obvious that many Hyperscalers did not "get the memo," i.e., read those posts, as this question comes up again and again. A search on this forum for "Future" will show you what I mean.

Future---Same

December 6 2017, 10:29 AM

Like Mike says............"It's the same stuff."

I started using it in 1986 and was still using it in 2016 when I quit model building due to severe shaky hands.

Better than Future

December 6 2017, 10:21 AM

Alclad's Aqua Gloss clear is similar and I think better. Look herehttps://store.spruebrothers.com/searchresults.asp?Search=aqua+gloss&Submit=
Anybody that carries Alclad should have this.

Caveat on Alclad Aqua Gloss

December 6 2017, 1:13 PM

I have used Alclad Aqua Gloss, and it is OK if you use one coat. The troouble comes when a second coat of Aqua Gloss is applied; a second coat apparently interacts with the first coat, leaving an uneven, lumpy finish. So, I will use Alclad Aqua Gloss if only a single coat is needed. Others may have a different experience, but this has been my observation of the product.

I've not had this problem with Aqua Gloss

December 7 2017, 11:23 AM

I've done multiple coats on multiple kits without issues.
