First of all, it's nice to see you in person, you're certainly more beautiful than any modellers here on Hyperscale. LOL happy.gif. Your Beaufighter is very very well done , superb paint an subtle weathering . Nice photography too. I love this model. happy.gif

I do really like the tonal variations on the differnet panels! I'm especially

January 12 2018, 9:26 AM

impressed by how clean the framing on the transparency's edges are. I'd kill to get mine that sharp. Anything special you do?

Framing...

Hi Harry,

Thanks for the kind words. I used Eduard Mask on the windows. I don't know if I do anything special but I try and peel the tape off as soon as possible while the paint is still wet and a little more flexible. And I try and peel it back towards the painted edge.

Serge, I know your compliment was well-intentioned,

January 12 2018, 10:22 AM

but in this day and age, I think we have to be careful about gender-based personal comments. If Karen were a man, would we be posting anything like "... you're certainly more handsome than any modellers here ...?" Just sayin'.

“in this day and age, I think we have to be careful about gender-based personal comments.”

No I don’t. I should be polite and courteous, but my comments and opinions are not subject to whether someone else may agree or not.

Let’s leave political correctness outside the modeling community.

Thank you.

Ahh if it were only that easy.....

"political correctness" as you call it, is really just basic human decency and should know no boundaries. There is no reason to point out that Karen is anything other than a modeler and talented to boot. Commenting on her model is entirely acceptable and I trust she appreciates the feedback. Anything other than that is uncalled for, unnecessary and should not be something that is done here or anywhere. You summed it up in your last statement, this IS a modeling community, let us stick to the (plastic) models please.

Rick

Having recently turned 70, I'm indisputably a grump,

January 12 2018, 4:40 PM

at least some of the time. FWIW, I hate political correctness, especially when it conflicts with humor; but I also think there can be a rather fine line between galanterie and sexism Although Serge's statement was certainly not egregious and was obviously well meant, it still raised a flag when I read it. I'm sorry if my reaction is offensive to you or anybody else, and I promise not to post any more comments to this thread no matter what.

It's quite easy ...

January 12 2018, 5:12 PM

...free speech is free speech.

Political correctness is it's antithesis.

You can't have both, which one do you want.

Free speech is speech not subject to prior restraint. Nobody's comments here can amount to prior restraint of the ability to speak. Brett can pull the plug on any of us, of course, which is a prior restraint, but not by the government, so that's okay too.

People can and do say whatever they have carefully considered, or even whatever pops into their heads, and sometimes there is pushback (which is also free speech). Political correctness is mostly free speech that someone else would like to object to. And often they do push back.

Cool model, Karen.

Yes ...

...free speech is not subject to prior restraint.
Since all speech is subject to pushback which you
describe as free speech as well, then all speech
is free. Political correctness isn't just an objection
or pushback, nor is it prior restraint. It's an
'attempt' to silence speech as a form of prior restraint.
Brett's prior restraint is not a form of political
correctness because it's not an 'attempt', it's pre-defined.

And in so saying

January 15 2018, 12:31 AM

You are trying to restrain whatever it is that you think political correctness is. It's just a loop.

January 16 2018, 12:34 AM

...anything. I know what political correctness is.
Your definition of political correctness is that
it's simply a disagreement. It's not. Like I said,
it's an attempt to 'silence' disagreement.
It couldn't be clearer.

Certainly not illegal,

January 12 2018, 4:31 PM

and apparently not offensive to Karen, which is good. I probably would have done better to bite my tongue and let it go by in the first place. No hard feelings intended, Serge.
