Just thought I'd let folks know that there is no gunsight included in the kit (not all reviews mention this) so a resin/spare one will need to be found, a surprising omission I must say .
Maybe it's an over-sight (nyuk nyuk)

Hey Ollie. . .where ja put that gunsight?

No need to worry Stan, the resin folk will sell you one.

He positively hates them, I must make time to tease him
What?? How does Airfix forget the gunsight?

And please, before anyone goes crazy and says "What more do you want for that price" or "well, you have to leave something for the afermarket crowd" nonsense, I think the gunsight is kind of important.
Yeah, me too. OP, not hiding on the clear sprue? MIA in the ....

instruction too eh? Not like a missing gear door or some such but a strange omission nonetheless. Not hard to scratch tho, assuming you have some Evergreen, etc, bits handy.

It may be that there is an over reliance on research using restored “warbirds” which do not necessarily still carry a gunsight for safety reasons rather than using a combination of original documentation and modern research methods like Lidar. In addition CAD designers do not always have the specialist aviation knowledge that would alert them to the absence of a gunsight

Prob right, BUT, you'd think SOMEWHERE along the chain ....

of 'command', R&D, instruction editor, board member, an underling of the big boss, etc, etc, someone wudda noticed! And not like the wing is upside down, there's a two blade prop, the pilot's seat is facing backwards, etc. But still, you'd think someone would think to themselves "don't fighter a/c have some sort of gun sight???". No one at Airfix R&D perused one of the MANY Sea Fury booklets/articles published over the yrs?
In the end, a pretty ez fix. At least for me and my massive 50+ yrs old spares/bits box. Again, not like the fuselage is 3 scale feet too short.
Short shot vert fin (putty/fill), flawed canopy (vac a new one or AM), etc, I can fix. Not that I should have to w/ a 30 buck 2018 kit, but not the end of the model kit world for me either.
Two on order from HLJ and after a good 'in hand' look, I bet I'll buy a couple more, and 2-4 for my modelling buds.
I'm sure Barracuda Studios will address the Fury shortcomings

very nicely here in the near future. Roy loves the Fury.
You should look at the Eduard 1/48 Spitfire kit
|February 14 2018, 1:29 PM |
All of the Eduard kits have the parts (J2, J8, J11, and F24) to make the Gyro gunsight as used in the Sea Fury.
The only Eduard kit that uses the Gyro gunsight is the Mk XVI. These parts are not for use in all other Eduard Spitfires, so you're in luck if you have any Eduard Spitfires in your stash. Go to the Eduard website and check out the instructions for a Mk XVI Spitfire. There you'll find the instruction for assembly of the Gyro gunsight.
Not sure how it was mounted in the Sea Fury; you may have to scratch build a mount for it.

Many Thanks for this advice!
I have several Eduard Spits of all marks and I can rob these for the needed parts!
Great pick up..thanks for posting! nt
