Stocking filler suggestions;
'Sailor' is an acclaimed documentary series about life aboard British aircraft carrier, HMS Ark Royal. Its been over 30 years since it was first broadcast so it now has the added value of being an important historical record of a time that has long since disappeared. There's some super footage of Phantoms, Buccaneers, Sea King helicopters, that butt ugly Gannet plus a few other types.
The 3 DVD box set also includes a 'Where are they now' follow up filmed 8 years later and a bonus mini docu showing Buccaneer and Phantom bombing practice shot in 1971. The theme song as originally broadcast was sung by that raspy voiced Rod Stuart but this DVD release has replaced this with instrumental arrangement. It seems RS wanted too much money so they simply edited him out!
This is an excellent documentary that really does capture what life aboard a warship is all about. Oh yes, quick disclaimer, I have no interest in the product nor do I work for the Beeb!
Time is/has running out to include AI products in the stocking. Our latest decal 'Spitfires in the Antipodes' Pt.2 has been released but orders received this month wont be filled until mid-late Jan 09. More exciting stuff due next year with Part 3 and 4!
