Hello all, these are the details for Wings 2007 held at the Australian National Aviation Museum:
THE CATEGORIES

Junior Category (under 15 years of age)

AWARDS AND PRIZES

Best of Category
Presented in each class per Category, this award consists of a framed certificate and
is a premium quality kit from the Italeri or Academy range.
Excellence Awards
As the number of models deemed worthy of special commendation may vary from one category to another,
ten Excellence Awards in the form of a framed certificate are presented regardless of category,
in place of second and third prizes in each category.

Special Trophy Awards
• Best of Show (decision of officiating Judges)
• People's Choice (Chosen by vote of people attending show)
• Museum's Choice (as chosen by Museum Council)
• Best Australian Aircraft (decision of officiating Judges)
DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES

Scales
1/72 and below
1/48
1/32 and larger

Out-of-Box ( "OOB" )
Models must be completed and displayed as per the kit instructions however all finishing techniques are allowed.
Decals other than those included in the kit may be used, Insignia, markings and instrument panels
may be hand-painted instead of decaled. Bracing and aerials wires are free.

Enhanced ( "EH" )
Includes any form of addition or modification to the original kit not indicated on the kit instruction set,
and beyond those permitted in the Out-of-Box definition. All additions or modifications must be supported by references.
All references and information the entrant wishes to be drawn to the attention of the judges
is to be included in the form of loose sheets of A4 Paper (i.e. not reference books),
to a maximum of 10 pages
MasterClass ( "MC" )
1. Models must be built and completely finished by the entrant.

2. A short history of the aircraft is to be included e.g.
P-40N-5 Warhawk
Serial 42-105112 "Geronimo"
Flown by Lt. Bruce Campbell
Goodenough Island 1943

3. All references and information the entrant wishes to be drawn to the attention of the judges
is to be included in the form of loose sheets of A4 Paper (i.e. not reference books),
to a maximum of 10 pages

4. This Category allows entry of scratch built models and allows
any and all modifications to models when supported by references.
Includes any form of addition or modification to the original kit not indicated on the kit instruction set.
5.Models must not have been exhibited at any other previous event.
6. A minimum number of entries (5) is required for this class to be included in the competition.

Diorama & Miscellaneous Kits ( "DM" )
Includes any aviation theme models consisting of kit and scratch built items forming a diorama, or miscellaneous
kit subjects such a cockpit or engine model.


CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION

Model Subject
Models must be of aircraft or of an aviation theme, and where the aviation theme is not an aircraft(primay purpose)
i.e. for instance where the missile's Transport vehicle is the predominant portion of the model,
e.g. Scud, Patriot or MLRS, the model will be considered to be an "armour model"
and therefore not eligible to compete in Wings except as part of a Diorama.

Note :For Wings 2006, (unlike previous years) Helicopter models are not provided a separate competition
category or class, but are invited as aircraft in the main categories)

Entrants own work
Models must be built and completed by the entrant alone without assistance from
another person or another source.

Judging

Judging is to be based on the IPMS/USA Competition Handbook and is made
on the Saturday evening after the closing of the museum and the awards are placed out early
on the Sunday afternoon.


Free entry to Museum for Competitors
Wings 2006 competitors are exempt from admittance fees to the museum, regular admittance fees apply to visitors
(see general information below)

Competition Entry Fees
Juniors (under 15 years old) $1 per model
Adults $2 per model
(If more than five models are entered the Entry fee is capped at $5 for Juniors and $10 for Adults)
MasterClass Category $10 per model (regardless of other entries)
All entrants in the junior class will receive a free model kit


Delivery of Model Entries
Models may be delivered for entry between 5pm and 7pm on Friday 16th of November
or between 9am and noon on Saturday 17th of November at the museum,
at the corner of Second Avenue and First Street Moorabbin Airport Melways 87 G4
While every possible care will be taken the museum and its operators cannot accept responsibility for any loss
or damage to an entry while on display or in the museum's charge.

Pickup of Model Entries
Entries may only be collected after the closing of the competition at 5pm on Sunday 19th November or during
the following week during museum open hours (see below). Entries should be collected no later than 5pm the following Sunday.
Models which have gained an award in a previous Wings competition are not eligible for entry in this year's competition.

On Line Entry Form Lodgement
(List Category, Scale and "OOB", "EH" , "MC" or "DM" as per Class Definitions)
Will be available from the end of August till the event

MODEL EXHIBITION

Model Displays, and Swap & Sell Tables

Display tables will be available for clubs and individual modelers who wish
to present models for display only as part of the Exhibition.


Prior advice to the Museum of the intention to "Display" or "Swap & Sell" to reserve table space would be
appreciated via email to [email protected]
Free Museum and Exhibition admission for vendors, club members and individual modelers
who are manning tables for display,.
Club display and promotions are most welcome
BBQ
A BBQ will be held on Sunday the 18th for people involved in the running of this year’s Wings

Barbeque sausages, hot coffee, tea and other refreshments are available on site.
