Region 5's annual competition will be held May 16 and 17 at Council Bluffs, Iowa, just across the Missouri River from its sister city, Omaha, Nebraska.
Hosted by IPMS Ft. Crook, OMACON 08 will be in the Mid-America Center, www.midamericacenter.com in Council Bluffs and the doors events start at 3 p.m., Friday, May 16.
The first-class center is conveniently near the western junction of I-80 and I-29, great restaurants are within walking distance, hotels are neaby (one is attached to MAC) and the center has great lighting. It's second to none in quality.
Plenty of vendors will be on hand including Sprue Brothers and CRM.
Nearby are the Strategic Air and Space Museum (about 25 miles away), Henry Doorly Zoo (1 mile away and ranked #1 zoo in the nation by Readers Digest), the Great Plains Wing of the Confederate Air Force (about 5 miles away) and the Union Pacific Railroad Museum (2 miles away). Across the street is a new IMAX theater. Hobby shops are in nearby Omaha.
