The 2008 edition of the London (Ontario) Scale Model Show is barely six weeks away! Hosted by IPMS London (
http://www.ipmslondon.ca), the London Scale Model Show is returning to the large, modern, well-lit facility at the Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre, right beside the former CFB London and the Royal Canadian Regiment Museum, on Saturday, October 4th, 2008. We’ve got lots of space for models on display (we are expecting 500 models entered this year, with entrants coming from across southern Ontario, Quebec, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and New York), as well as a large vending area and lots of cool stuff on the raffle table.
This year’s theme is “Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh, My!,” with special theme awards for models of subjects with proper names of real animals, so bring out your F-15 Eagles, Blackburn Skuas. P-61 Black Widows and Grumman Panthers and Cougars, Tiger, Leopard and Panther tanks, Ford Pintos, Corvette Stingrays, VW Beetles and Shelby Cobras, Gato-class submarines, and BSG Vipers. We’ve got some pretty cool awards for these categories, and also nice awards for Best ofs and individual categories. Judging will follow IPMS format, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes awarded in all categories. We’re also expecting to have a few pleasant surprises in store for people attending the show.
