uhm... "pick 3" seems to be a little complicated...

maybe should be good to have a round to practice the new competition, why not on this week-end

It will take on a similar format .....

February 1 2003, 1:57 AM

next week, it is maybe a little strange to grasp at first but the basics are ....

  • Pick One from Each Section Only
  • Split 10 points in bets between the 3 picks, making sure each pick is included at least once.
  • Be clear with your picks, stakes and bets

Let me try

February 1 2003, 2:27 AM

Alaves @ 1.85 (2 points bet)
Man Utd -1/2 @ 1.75 (2 points bet)
Doherty @ 1.62 (3 points)

Alaves + Man Utd double @ 3.24 (2 points)

Alaves, Doherty, Man U treble @ 5.25 (1 point)

??? Is that it no?

i think this

February 1 2003, 10:23 AM

will be a close competition for those who know the sports only.
How many of us know about snooker or Rugby.
To bet on unkown things it's crazy.
I need an answer please.

Mayb right George

February 1 2003, 12:07 PM

Mark how about Tennis, NBA, Golf etc, sports that hold interest in more countries, just a thought, Rugby and Snooker may only hold interest for people in Uk more than anywhere else, but tennis and NBA etc hold interest in much more countries. I like the thought though of putting an odd sport in now and again to make you go read about it like Cycling or something like that

The sports section .........

February 1 2003, 1:14 PM

all is dependent on which odds Bet Internet have up on their site which will be valid at the weekend. This weekend Rugby and Snooker were, next weekend it might be something totally different, Horse Racing, Tennis, NBA ..... who knows ?

If there are no sports then there maybe more football to choose from in the Sports Section,

Re: Bet Internet Competitions (Update)

February 1 2003, 2:35 PM

Hmmmmmmm...... So people knows other kind of sports is absolutely taking an advantage on people who doesn't know. Therefore, I believe the winner should be someone who know soccer, criket, nba, horse, tennis, and etc. and etc.

I will be at the bottom of table for sure.

In all fairness....

February 1 2003, 2:47 PM

No one knows everything about every sport. Some I'm sure would want this to be completely football only. Concentrating on European Football only. But to be honest I know absolutely nothing about German or Italian Leagues. Some would prefer English & Scottish only ... but my knowledge of English Div 3 is non existant! Some would like NBA etc. ... I also know nothing about these. The thing is "You Can't Please All the People All of the Time". Even though I know nothing about these other sports I'm gonna have a go. I'm sure I'll find someone on the forum that knows something about these games

Lets be honest folks ... no matter what games are presented someone will be at a disadvantage. Christ Almighty what would happen if there was Downhill Skiing Still even if there is I'll still give it a go. After all folks ... its a FREE comp with a Prize

What have we got to loose ... absolutely nothing. Thanks Mark & Jhim for your hard work in arranging the prize in the first place

whould you please

February 1 2003, 3:06 PM

tell me thepensioner which sport taking most of the place here?Rugby or football?
Of course none it's inpossible to know all leagues. I don't saw anyone tell something about that in bet20.Why? 'Cos it's football.
Perhaps i'm wrong but don't tell that it's fair to bet on cricket instead of English Div 3.Come on

George...

February 1 2003, 3:19 PM

I understand your point exactly. However if I know nothing about English Div 3 and I know nothing about Cricket and I know nothing about NBA or I know nothing about Skiing ... then I know nothing about them equally. Of course. If one week a bet comes up about say for example Alaskin Dog Sledding and I know something about it then I have an advantage but only for that week. The next week it could be American Sports. If I come accross something I know nothing about ... I'll have a look around. And find something about it. Its a great way to find out about different sports. As for the competition having a UK slant ... well I'm in Ireland and I don't care ... I'll still give it a bash. If theres a week where theres a bet on the GAA then I'll have the advantage. It simply depends on what Betinternet are doing. BTW I don't think they do normal Horse Racing or Dogs.... but I'm open to correction there.

All the best,

thepensioner

In my opinion ....

February 1 2003, 4:42 PM

Blind luck no. I just don't think you'll get a set of matches that everyone can agree is totally fair. Lets take the above example :

German League Footie - Know nothing personally so time for me to rely on guys on forum, advice given by Jhim etc. and check the internet and other sourses for info.

English League - Good ... I'll give that a go .. I know a bit about it

Snooker - Forum & internet time again

In my opinion its as much a competition about finding out about different leagues & sports and how good you are at finding out the information ... even though you know nothing about it to begin with.

Blind luck ...no. Personal opinion and good research yep

As for the money ... I wouldn't say No

Anyway looking forward to it ... whats the worst that can happen .. I can only come last AGAIN .. he he

Re: Bet Internet Competitions (Update)

February 1 2003, 5:55 PM

Snooker and Rugby ?
As a person living outside the UK i know nothing about these sports, i don't even know the rules.

I think it would be best only to have football.
If you have to have any other sport it should be a bigger sport.

American sports is just not going to happen, as the lines come up for 1 day at a time.

Maybe we should have a vote ?

No matter the rules, thanks for a new comp. should be a lot of fun

I am sure

February 1 2003, 6:01 PM

Mark will listen to your feedback. It is a good idea but I will admit before seeing the example I thought this woudl not be a problem, am not sure I will ever be able to get anything right in the last section, I don't know snooker players from rugby teams and haven't watched either in at least five years, and not interested in any other sport other than football really except for NBA and MLB a little. Let Mark think about it, sure he will come up with something.

Re: Bet Internet Competitions (Update)

February 1 2003, 6:46 PM

I don't care of what kind of sports that gonna be in this competition. I don't care about the price, but I want to participate this one as well. However, I don't want to waste my time doing research on any games I don't even know.

This is a Football forum, unleast, you want to change to something else / or I don't know....

Sorry mates to say this out.

Whatever and however, go with your plans.

Remember .........

February 2 2003, 10:59 AM

If your knowledge on other sports is ZERO or very little, you only need to waste 1 POINT on that selection.

Just have a 1 point single on the Sports selection, and place the other 9 on your football picks ..... easy really.

With the sports bets, I'll try and post links to preview sites so at least you can do some research if you are so driven.

If there are no weekend sports .....

February 2 2003, 12:02 PM

available on Bet Internet when I post the string up, then it will be more football choices in the sports section
