Audley Harrison ... Man or Mouse ?

Just watched the Audley Harrison fight. If thats the word thats used nowadays for ballroom dancing in a ring. This fight was scheduled to go 8 rounds. Audley outweighted the bloke by 3 stone .. yes 3 Stone !!! There is no way it would have gone 8 rounds giving that much weight away.

So what exactly was wrong. Yea he won the fight .. so whats my problem. Well he should have used the jab .. Audley had a huge reach advantage and simply didn't use it to full effect. He let Calloway inside him once or twice and took a couple of unneccessary punches.  This guy has a hell of a lot to learn. For such a big man I'm not sure if he can really take a punch. He seemed unneccessarily shaken by some of the punches by Calloway (three stone lighter don't forget) If he's hit by a man of the same size and stature ... he'll crumble. Another thing that worries me is Harrisons lack of speed. Sod all footwork. Slow punches. Its simply not good enough. All this before we even mention his age

Look I'm open to correction but he simply doesn't have it ... whatever it is. I would like to see him fight an honest opponent. Similar weight & class. Not simply some journeyman.

All the best,

you may not remember about a year ago or so I posted a string after watching a fight of Audley Harrison, I had never seen such a pathetic affair in my life, every time he got a slap you saw him feel his face as if to say 'he hit me ref'

The boy is a twat and will never amount to anything unfortunately

A little bit of a diversion here, I have just watched three British Boxing matches on Sportscene and I have to say I have never seen such a big load of shit in all my life, I mean they must be ashamed they even put it on televison. First I watched Audley Harrison fight an overweight neanderthal who could have been an extra for one flew over the cuckoos nest, then I saw Robby Reid fight a double glazing salesman from Argentina, I mean the guy must have been a plant, he looked like Mr bean for gods sake. Then I watched a promising young Scottish fighter called Ricky Burns, but they even had him fighting a welsh midget with a face like a rasberry? Is this the state of british boxing now, its awful. I was once a great fight fan but have gone off it these days, partly because there is too many weights now, not enough stars and everyone centres their attention on the heavyweight contests? Remeber the days when we had fighters outside of heavy weight like Hagler, Hearns, McGuigan, Watt, Marsh etc, etc, fighters in all sorts of weights that were exciting to watch. Its boring now? Even Naseem seems like a distant memory now. Did anyone else watch the boxing tonight, it really was a laugh, you can't call these professional opponents. I noticed also once the neanderthal guy clipped Audley on the ear and Audley brought his hand to his ear as if to say 'oooh that was sore'. That boy is going to get throttled when he meets a real boxer, Frank Bruno could make a comeback and snap him? Anyone else boxing fans?

Response to British Boxing

I love boxing. It all started a few years ago when we had Barry McGuigen (sorry can't spell). I'll never forget that nite when he lost... supposidly to the heat .. but in all fairness due a better boxer.

I will always remember and tresure Steve Collins. This man was not only a boxer but a fighter. Head and heart. He outclassed Eubanc. Beat him both as a boxer and a fighter.

I saw that "fight" tonight. It was a farce. Audley Harrison was an insult to anyone who watches boxing. The closest this man will come to a fight is arguing with his bank manager over best rate for his savings account.

British boxing must be better than this surely... if this is the best then this Irishman is getting his gloves and going for the World Title ... it'll make a change from beating British boxers

Kind regards (the next Heavyweight Champion of the World)

Pantos

I don't think he is good enough even for that, he will not even get as far as a title shot, so doubt if he will get his actors guild membership card unless he takes up wrestling

Think he will get seriously lamped before getting anywhere near a title shot.
