Big loss for Celtic for the upcoming matches, they have strikers to replce him, but he is a player you expect to pop up and get you out of trouble. I just hope the size of Sutton and hartson will be enough to upset the germans, but I can't help feeling this news will give the germans a little confidence.

Celtic FC striker Henrik Larsson has suffered a double fracture of his jaw and will miss a large chunk of the title run-in as well as both forthcoming UEFA Cup meetings with VfB Stuttgart.

Clash of heads
Larsson was injured 14 minutes into the Scottish Premier League encounter with Livingston FC after a clash of heads with Gustave Bahoken. The Swedish striker, who has scored 24 league goals this season and is a contender for the ESM Golden Shoe award, was immediately taken to hospital.

'Too early'
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill, who is already without the suspended John Hartson for the first leg against Stuttgart, said: "Henrik has a double fracture of his jaw. He'll be operated on tonight and we'll need to wait and see how long he is absent. At this stage it's too early to say."

Chasing trophies
The 31-year-old's injury is a huge blow to Celtic, who are chasing four trophies this season. The Glasgow side are in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup and the UEFA Cup as well as being three points behind league leaders Rangers FC, who they also face in the league cup final on 16 March.

of course Hartson will miss the first leg of the UEFA cup ties, and I think O'Neill has a touchline ban for one game if I am not mistaken, not looking good is it

i watched the highlights and it looked as though nothing much had happened but then they said he had been taken straight to hospital.

Obviously he didn't think it was as bad himself as he walked up the tunnel waving and giving the thumbs up to his family...just shows you.

John Hartson was dropped today and wasn't given a place on the bench...after calling Martin O Neill a wanker when he came off the park the other night  in the semi.

I was under the impression that O'Neil had his ban taken away .. could be mistaken though

Jhim .. I just booked my tickets for the game ... dont mean to rub it in were lucky as hell.. got the last 6 seats in a row available!

Varga's just signed til the end of the seson too, no news on Rapaijc yet though ... Martin said he'd decide over the next two days as his fitness isn't quite up to scratch yet.

Celtic reject Rapaic

Celtic have decided against signing Croatia international winger Milan Rapaic.

The Scottish champions are poised to agree a deal with former Sunderland defender Stanislav Varga should the Slovakian international complete a successful medical.

But Rapaic, who had arrived at Celtic Park for training at the same time as Varga, appears to have been unable to prove his fitness to manager Martin O'Neill.

Rapaic had impressed for his country in last year's World Cup finals but was released by Turkish club Fenerbahce.

He had arrived in Britain claiming that he would be signing for either Celtic or English Premiership outfit Liverpool until the end of the season.
