Showtime!

This topic is based on Deba's idea and aims to predict some possible upsets, just to avoid betting on such games (even more to bet against favourites). Of course, we suppose that there will be no arguments between forum members:)
After first testing thread, this one will expire at the end of this season.
Please post here, if you see any possible upset.
Its strongly recommend to explain the reason for the suggestion.
Good luck to all!

Motherwell- Celtic , home win

February 14 2003, 9:08 AM

I believe in this home win since Celtic will be without their main goalstriker LArson. Motherwell already won earlier this season at home vs Celtic and Rangers, so i believe they will repeat this success. Odd is around 9,00 and it is worth of try.

Dejan,Motherwell already won Rangers and Celtic this year and are the only team that did so.
But they cant win this one, believe me...
Some things never repeat because there is no interest for that...

Leverkusen - Hansa Rostoc...

February 15 2003, 10:48 AM

This is the match to avoid betting on home win for saturday... Leverkusen players will be fight today under presure to avoid relegation. Also Leverkusen will be without 3 key players, defenders Lucio and Nowotny and midfielder Basturk. I know that this one is one of Jhim's selections for saturday. I wish you good luck Jhim but i prefer to stay away from this match.

This match is to be or not to be for Topmoeller, if hi loses, he is on a street on monday, so the question is- will players help him or throw him out on a cold streets of industrial Leverkusen...

Roma-Bresia

February 15 2003, 10:59 AM

Roma in 6 last games 2(w)-1(d)-3(l) and goals 6-7
Bresia in 6 last games 1-5-0 goals 5-2
Bresia without lost game, while Roma doesn’t play good (lost from Cievo home. Como away). ROMA ,With Toti plays better, but today captain is doubtful, while Cantela, Zebina, Samuel, Tomazi will not play. Let’s don’t forget the important game against Valencia the next week.
Bresia drawed away to Milano, AGAINST MILAN. Today without problems, and Bagio wants to prove to Trapatoni his class. Last season won away.
I don’t say that ROMA can not win, but in these conditions, and so low odds, this game must be avoided for home win.
i believe that ROMA this time time wants only ITALY CUP and game against Valencia.

if i thing it better , and i have inspiration about it
i could bet for an away win .. i have few hours to decide.
good luck

1.)Motherwell has to many important players missing for a second surprise and H.Larson is not that important for Celtic at the moment.

2.)Leverkusen is surely,no matter what the outcome will be a no bet game.Jhim should no better! The only exeption is of course, that you know Toppmüller is going to be fired, like it was with Breme in the match against Gladbach.

See ya,

sorry guys but i forgot ....

February 16 2003, 12:02 AM

1) in my country and in all the world
many-many people , today , have shouted :make love not war . and i am with them .
2) Jhim , i wish you the best , huppy birtday and health.
3) and now i have to complain , as many times i have suggested games for avoiding to bet , all are drawed.
maybe , this helped , maybe not . but the problem is that , and i bet for away wins (like Bresia, ....) and i lost ....
bad luck ....small stake but i was greedy (as i am older , so i learn)
i will wait tomorrow morning , i want to know , if Bresia played good against Roma and if was unlucky or not..
today , all the time i was running Jhim , so i forgot to sent you my best wishes ...
and .....i don't believe that ....this war will help the world .....

OK

February 16 2003, 12:40 AM

here is one I am looking at. Osasuna not to lose, don't bet on Madrid tomorrow. Osasuna only have one player missing from this tie I think, Uruguayan Pablo Garcia. Real Madrid have not had a proper midweek training as most players have only just been getting back from internetional duty. Ronald, Carlos and Conceicao were in China, and most of the rest of the squad all featured in midweek freindlies for their national teams. Osasuna defeated Madrid 3-1 at home last season. It is possible Madrid could be jaded going into this game and may falter. Saw odds of 5.00 on home win at Planet Pinnacle. This game could well be worth avoiding, especially low odds on away win.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Deba. Please use the other forum for talks about current affairs

Be wary, hi draw possibility

February 16 2003, 12:55 AM

Santander V Vallecano

Santander did well to win 2-0 last week against Alaves, their first time having controversial coach and sharholder Piterman on the bench at a game, also Vallecano have wone one and drawn one since new coach Benitiz took over. This clash of new coaches for me could well provide a drawn match but with two teams of inconsistent form it may be worth avoiding as result could be home draw or away win equally. Vallecano won the correspoding tie 3-1 earlier at home this season.

Torino

February 16 2003, 1:19 AM

bottom of the table Torino will miss two players through suspension after indiscipline against Lazio last week. Jose Franco and Cristiano Lucarelli will not be present for visit of Modena. This game also has any result written on it. Both teams are without a win in 6 games and Modena also miss a striker through suspension.

Uefa Cup

February 19 2003, 9:04 AM

Lazio - Wisla Krakow
Wisla swich of Parma and Schalke. Specialy at the game against Schalke (i watch this on tv) in Germany i saw an excelent team to win 4-1! I know that Wisla is the same team (none of players sold). I wonder about team's situation because of polish league didn't start after winter interrupt. But look at Lazio's performance at Uefa Cup.
Against Xanthi Draw (0-0) away Won (4-0) home
against Red Star Won (1-0) home Draw (0-0) away
against Sturm Graz Won (3-1) away Lost (0-1) home
I find some symmetry here and also find odds @10.0 for the away win
Good luck to all!

Uefa..

February 19 2003, 7:14 PM

One game, from Uefa, Panathinaikos (Gre)-Anderlecht (Bel) Bordeaux Midtjylland
I ‘ believe’, that home team will not win.
For this game, I can say, waiting the latest news that:
Home team, looks confused. Some players as I read, interested in to be the champions in Greece (after 7 years), some others interested in Uefa-cup (If it is possible), and some both of them. In Greece Panathinaikos is first in the league table, and the next week plays away-very difficult game-against Aris .the reality is that home team is very good team, but last games not good offensive (following difficult wins in Greece and score 1-0), and is impossible to be good and in Uefa cup and In Greece.
Anderlecht, has lost every thing in Belgium, is the last chance for them, to make something good in this season. And I see the games in this cup. have won away Bordeaux and Midtjylland. In Belgium have 3 following wins…
I will wait until tomorrow for latest news, but I ‘d like from BelgoPhil to write, comments, news, and anything for helping (what do players ,coach, believe for the game …
i will be back later

CL... Valencia - Roma

February 26 2003, 11:11 AM

Away win.
I am impressed from Roma's loosing performance. I think that this team have something to improve. Today they play for nothing against a serius team like Valencia. This is the reason that bookies offer the lowest odds for home win. Anyway, i think that Roma is equal strong like Valencia and can win this match. And also i don't forget that away from Italy Roma is a dangerous team.
Good luck with your selections!

CL Real Madrit - AC Milan

March 11 2003, 1:40 PM

Lets continue with another "strange" pick...
This is a desparate fight for Real to secure a place to the quarter finals against Milan who is allready secured. Real will be without Ronaldo. Also Ivan Helguera is doubt. Milan is playing very good in CL and also have 2 bad results in Championato recently. I think that Milan will play for the win here and IMO can do it. AWAY win for me.
Good luck to all!

Perhaps it is not that bad for Ronaldo to sit down a bit, he did not impress me in Real so far, I think, Guti, if he gets a chance will show his potential, for those who want to place a bet on scorers, Guti is my favourite!

I am suprised seeing Lok. Moscow at @7.50! My early thought is that i love suprises which only Real Madrit can give me. I am wondering if is possible Real to eliminate from CL next round. I don't care about this. Betting will never stop, even after Real's elimination. Maybe Real will pass even loosing this game... Once more i don't care! I just backed Real's defeat in compo with Milan - Dortmud HT/FT 12, just for fun! This is a reason to thank all bookies for making me smile!

Re: Showtime!

March 17 2003, 4:42 PM

I am not sure why but your comments reminded me of  last years' Copa del Rey. If I remember correctly Deportivo eliminated Real although Real was in much better shape than their opponents. I didn't bet on that game because a few weeks earlier I had heard a story about Real insuring their success at a big insurance company. To be more specific, they would receive a very big amount of money if they didint succed to win the big 3 trophees (CL, championship and cup). I havent been able to confirm if this story was true, so it would be very interesting to hear something from anybody that knows. Of course it would be more interesting to hear if there is a similar situation this year.

Now, I am not saying that this will happen this year, and of course CL is different story from Copa del rey. Real wil propably win imo but I will stay away since I dont like betting in so big matches. Cheers.

Wolverhampton W - Stoke C.

March 18 2003, 2:06 PM

At first I have to say , that I am in bad form and luck in 2 last weeks on betting .
but from yesterday is another week , so something must has changed –I believe- and I thing that I must sent my opinion about Wolverhampton W - Stoke C.
Wolves : looks in good form , in 6 games 3-2-1
and goals 8-2
But , as usual , plays better away than in home. Stoke : in 6 games 2-2-2 and goals 2-7
Fights for no relegation . I see many draws away against better teams .( except Nottingham F.
I can’t say that home team will not win , but Stoke can take something from this game . If we remember , that Wolves has the worst record in home between teams who fight for promotion and this home record all the last years caused for no promotion I believe that this game must be avoided (and for another reason :odds are too low……)

Now looking for some upsets in England , I believe that there are some games for betting – small bet, good profit- . considering form (bad like Rotheram) and how much some teams are interested in results (Wigan , Sheffield W.) , my opinion is that Grimsby , Sheffield W and Stocport can win these games while the high odds are another reason for betting .
This time I can’t read the latest news , but when I can ,I will mail if i like them in this thread…

3 games in England division 1

March 21 2003, 5:58 PM

1 Watford -stoke C
For the first game , I can say that home team looks in bad form . in 4 last games in home has 1 draw and 3 lost games . we must also consider that Watford plays next week an F.A. cup game and because home team looks safe from relegation ,maybe some players will be rested .so I believe that this game must be avoided FOR betting on Watford win. Stoke proved another time that fights too hard all the games ,defenses very well but looks that is difficult to score. The low odds , the F.A. game, and the fact that Stoke is in relegation zone ,make me believe that this is ideal for an upset.
2.Wolves- Gillingham
the last Wolf’s games ,remember me the last season (2001-2002)-and other seasons-, when home team was first in the table all the period and at last couldn’t promote. For another time is proved that home team has big problem in home. In 4 last games in home 1 win 3 draws. Visitors has proved that can win but and lose everywhere. I believe that Gillingham has secret hopes for play-offs , so I believe that this game must avoided for all of us who want to bet on home team win.
3. Millwal -Sheffield W.
I can’t know what the members of the forum believe for this game . but I risk to say that this game is the most ideal for the upset. home team in 4 games in home 1 draw 3 lost games ,looks tired , and plays without some injuried excellent players. Sheffield W. hasn’t lost 4 last away games (4 draws) and this make me feel that there is and a probability for a draw. considering in the high odds for away win and the fact that visitors and last year (again in relegation zone) won ,This game could be the best bet this week-end ,for me.

GOOD LUCK...

Agree with you Deba on Stoke and Sef. Wendsday. Also i have to add Notingham Forest not to win. I have no team news for this game, but lately i try a method with odds comparision, (quite succesful in div1) in which i take these suggestions. I hope, if i have good results this week, to post it at the forum
