Question for Irish Betfair Account Holders

I wonder if anyone here has withdrawn funds from Betfair in Euro Cheque form, who is from the Republic or Ireland.

The reason I ask is that I recently withdrew some money from Sporting Bet. They sent me a Euro Cheque from Barklay's Bank in England. When I went to the Bank to put it into my account, I was told that the Cheque had no Irish Bank sorting Code and I was charged 15 euro to cash it. Since then I have ceased Betting with Sporting Bet as it simply would not be profitable.

I once also received a cheque from Bet365 and I had no problems cashing that. I like using Betfair a lot and I just wonder if any Irish person has had a bad experience cashing their Euro Cheques. Thanks for your help in advance.

When cashing cheques ......

which are not in your native currency, always check the charges with your own bank. They can vary quite considerably, some charge a flat fee, but others may charge a percentage of the amount that you are banking. If you are not happy with your banks charges, then move it's as simple as that

One other problem that I had, is that the money is never classed as cleared in your account, even though you can draw against it. If the payment is rejected by the bank issuer in the country where the payment has been sent, you might find the money automatically being taken back out of your account. This would probably only happen in extreme circumstances though.
