St. Truiden-Standard - Standard on asian 0:1/4 @ 1.93 with Gamebookers

Standard will be for the first time in weeks back with strongholder Dragutinovic in defense. Since his disappearance because of injury Standard did not only get eliminated in the cup, they also saw a run of 10 games without defeat ended. Now they have nothing to go for anymore, which will make it easy for them to play without complexes, whereas St. Truiden is already weeks now playing under a lot of stress and this has a big influence on their game (only 8 points out of the last 5 games). One more important point: keyplayer Boffin might be absent because of flue.

Remarkable notes

(1) rightwinger Walasiak (who became first choice player in the autumn) played already 12 games in the A-team this season and did not loose once during those games.
(2) Since 2/11 Standard lost only 1 time (in Brugge) away from home (in 6 games).
(3) St. Truiden took out of its last 3 homegames only 4 points out of 9 and was the first team against whom KV Mechelen took points in 8 games...

02/11/2002 Standard - La Louvière 1 - 0
10/11/2002 Beveren - Standard 1 - 3
23/11/2002 Standard - Westerlo 3 - 0
30/11/2002 KV Mechelen - Standard 1 - 1
08/12/2002 Racing Genk - Standard 1 - 5
15/12/2002 Standard - AA Gent 4 - 1
22/12/2002 Antwerp - Standard 1 - 1
17/01/2003 Moeskroen - Standard 0 - 1
26/01/2003 Standard - Charleroi 3 - 0
09/02/2003 Standard - Bergen 0 - 0
15/02/2003 Club Brugge - Standard 4 - 2

15/02/2003 Sint-Truiden - Westerlo 1 - 0
22/02/2003 KV Mechelen - Sint-Truiden 0 - 0

La Louvière-Racing Genk - Genk on asian 1/2:0 @ 1.85 with Gamebookers

If you look at the form statistics, you will see that Genk is one of the best teams in the Jupiler League at the moment with 12 points out of 12, whereas La Louviere could only manage 3 points out of 15 (one win in their last game against poor Lommel). Genk scores easily
(13 goals in last 4 games), whereas La Louviere scores nearly not (3 goals in last 5 games).

Teamnews: La Louviere will be without Siquet, Olivieri and Rogerio, Racing Genk will be at its best...

26/01/2003 Racing Genk - Antwerp 2 - 0
07/02/2003 Racing Genk - Moeskroen 5 - 4
15/02/2003 Lommel - Racing Genk 1 - 3

Hi Belgo Phil! I like your picks(as usual)! Did you watch Anderlecht against Panathinaikos? There was no TV coverage in Greece, as Anderlecht's side asked too much! Cheers!

What do you think about over on StTruiden v Standard?

Over is risky...

February 27 2003, 10:06 PM

Think there will be surely goals, but how many? Only once (if you don't count the Charleroi game) there were overs in Standards last 6 games (in Brugge), but now the Standard defense is again at its strongest...

Hi, changed my mind about Standard, match can go either way, read in St. Truiden forum they consider this match as a keygame, not winning might cost them European football. Still have doubts about fitness of Boffin and the absence of the injured Vrancken is considered by loyal STVV-fans as the main reason for bad playing of last weeks.

But: Standard stays so unpredictable, most Standard-fans give on the Standard-forum their prognose for result and i think 75 percent see them loose. On paper they are surely the better team, but keyplayer Moreira is in a bit of a dip and coach D'onofrio tends to appoint week after week the weakest link Enarkahire on the right back, although this guy is not suitable for first choice football. So, doubts urge me to say here NO BET. The over might be an alternative, since Carini is of course a topgoalkeeper but unfortunately not every week completely concentrated...

Concerning 2nd division:

tonight topgame Heusden Zolder-Waregem

07/12/2002 Virton - Heusden-Zolder 0 - 0
15/12/2002 Tienen - Heusden-Zolder 1 - 4
20/12/2002 Heusden-Zolder - Deinze 2 - 1
17/01/2003 Heusden-Zolder - Strombeek 1 - 0
26/01/2003 Patro Maasmechelen - Heusden-Zolder 1 - 2
09/02/2003 Cercle Brugge - Heusden-Zolder 0 - 0
14/02/2003 Heusden-Zolder - Ingelmunster 1 - 1
23/02/2003 Ronse - Heusden-Zolder 1 - 0

Hometeam in good form, think the defeat of last weekend was a one off. the visitors are not really in good form and lost recently some points against really bad teams like Eupen, Geel and Dessel.

30/11/2002 Patro Maasmechelen - Zulte-Waregem 2 - 2
08/12/2002 Zulte-Waregem - Wezet 0 - 1
15/12/2002 Cercle Brugge - Zulte-Waregem 2 - 2
22/12/2002 Zulte-Waregem - Ingelmunster 2 - 1
18/01/2003 Dessel Sport - Zulte-Waregem 2 - 1
26/01/2003 Zulte-Waregem - Eupen 1 - 1
09/02/2003 Zulte-Waregem - Verbroedering Geel 0 - 0
15/02/2003 Luik - Zulte-Waregem 2 - 0
23/02/2003 Zulte-Waregem - Virton 0 - 0

Another question for BelgoPhil...

March 1 2003, 7:21 PM

...I think Charleroi are quite overpriced for their game at Anderlecht.

What is your opinion on this game? It is always valued and full of useful info, so I would be interested as to what you think.

Personally, I believe Charleroi will kick on and gain points as the season progresses, meanwhile Anderlecht, in terms of consistency (home especially of late) are nowhere near Club Brugge. So value wise Phil, do you believe 11.00 and above on Charleroi is worthwile?

Don't think so...

March 1 2003, 8:13 PM

about the "wise" part

About Charleroi 11.00 is of course ridiculous, Charleroi is showing better form recently, but that is only at home, away from home they stay the worst team in the Jupiler League, only in Lommel they managed to take a point. Look at their awayresults recently... and see why that 11.00 is there. Of course everything is possible in football, but Anderlecht played last Wednesday their best game of the season and seeing the situation in Brussels now I think they will just continue their good run now, especially since next week waits the game against Racing Genk, which could be deadly important...

10/08/2002 KV Mechelen - Charleroi 1 - 0
18/08/2002 Charleroi - Standard 3 - 3
24/08/2002 AA Gent - Charleroi 2 - 1
31/08/2002 Charleroi - Antwerp 1 - 1
14/09/2002 Moeskroen - Charleroi 6 - 0
21/09/2002 Charleroi - Racing Genk 0 - 0
27/09/2002 Charleroi - Anderlecht 1 - 3
05/10/2002 Bergen - Charleroi 4 - 1
19/10/2002 Charleroi - Club Brugge 2 - 3
26/10/2002 Lierse - Charleroi 2 - 1
02/11/2002 Charleroi - Sint-Truiden 2 - 2
09/11/2002 Lokeren - Charleroi 4 - 1
23/11/2002 Charleroi - G. Beerschot 1 - 6
01/12/2002 Lommel - Charleroi 1 - 1
07/12/2002 Charleroi - La Louvière 1 - 1
15/12/2002 Beveren - Charleroi 3 - 0
21/12/2002 Charleroi - Westerlo 1 - 0
19/01/2003 Charleroi - KV Mechelen 3 - 0
26/01/2003 Standard - Charleroi 3 - 0
08/02/2003 Antwerp - Charleroi 3 - 1
16/02/2003 Charleroi - Moeskroen 5 - 0
22/02/2003 Racing Genk - Charleroi 3 - 0
