I want to hear from anyone from either Spain or Portugal. The reason is that it would be great if I could receive some local info with regard to accomodation and travel rather than rely on travel books and brochures.
My plan is one that maybe could also be developed from members of this forum. I am trying to gather together some of my old Universoty friends from the UK and abroad with whom I still have contact, but rarely get to see.
I want to try and arrange that me and my friends and their families could book a couple of weeks holiday to Spain or Portugal for the summer of 2004 - which would coincide with UEFA 2004 European Championships. It would require renting a farmhouse or similar with capacity for some people to stay in rooms/apartments, and some others to bring along tents etc. This would give the wives/kids the chance to arrange combined beach/shopping/attraction trips while the guys could arrange trips to some of the games either live or on the TV.
I can see that there is already a lot of places booked up in this period, but maybe there are some places/people that would not normally rent out accomodation that might be interested to consider such a proposal, that someone in Spain/Portugal knows of.
The location should of course either be in Portugal itself, or could be on the north/west/south-west areas of Spain which are within a few hours drive of 1 or more of the major match locations.
As I say, this could also be an idea for forum members to arrange a get-together and meet up in person rather than via the web.
Tickets start going on sale online on 28 April 2003 already.
