I noticed couple of interesting matches in this round of Primera. I would like to give some comments and change some opinions with you.
Matches:
Saturday
Rayo Vallecano–Atletico Madrid
Sunday
Celta–Athletic Bilbao
Malaga–Betis
Real Sociedad–Villareal
Mallorca–Valladolid
Recreativo Huelva–Osasuna
Sevilla–Alaves
Valencia–Espanol
Barcelona-Santander
Real Madrid-Deportivo

Most of the matches are playing on Sunday. The only match for tommorow is Rayo Vallecano – Atletico Madrid. Both teams are in very bad form, so it would be very hard match to predict. It is one of the last chances for Rayo to keep their status in Primera. Atletico is fighting to keep the UEFA cup position. Atletico would be without important central midfilder, brazilian Emerson and left midfielder Jovan Stankovic. Also first goalkeeper Burgos is absent. They also recently losed from Huelva away (0:3) and in the last away match they luckily beat Valencia (1:0).
Probable squads:
Rayo Vallecano: Segura; Mario, Onopko, De Quintana, Graff; Iriney, Azkoitia; Peragón, Camuñas or Quevedo, Michel; Bolic.
Atlético de Madrid: Esteban; Contra, Sergi, Coloccini, Hibic; Albertini, Movilla; José Mari, Jorge, Luis García; Fernando Torres.

My ratings for this match:
Rayo Vallecano 22.4 – Atletico Madrid 26,1
I think home win or draw is the most propriet here.

From Sunday matches I would take Barcelona and Real Sociedad, both home win.
And I am still considering Mallorca-Valladolid home win in single.

That’s my early thoughts. I don’t have complete picture for Sunday matches.
I will be back with details. In meanwhile I would like to hear your comments.

Barcelona-Santander

March 22 2003, 4:32 PM

First and most certain pick for me is Barcelona to beat Santander at @1.45.
My ratings for this match is
Barcelona 40 – Racing Santander 23.5
Here is the probable squads

Barcelona: Bonano or Valdés; Gabri, Puyol, Frank de Boer, Reiziger; Mendieta, Xavi, Overmars, Riquelme; Saviola and Kluivert.
Racing: Lemmens; Coromina, Moratón, Juanma, Neru; Diego Mateo; Sarabia, Javi Guerrero, Benayoun, Regueiro; and Diego Alonso.

Barca will miss excelent argentinian left defender Sorin. But Reiziger could replace him succesfully. In-form Motta ia also absent, but Mendieta and Xavi could provide good balls for strikers. Saviola is just waiting to continue with his excelent performances.
Racing has made couple of changes in their formation, but I think it realy doesn’t matter.

Real Sociedad-Villareal

March 22 2003, 4:56 PM

If Real Sociedad want to keep the championship ambitions now it is time for them to demonstrate that. The squad will be at full strenght, except Schurer. In last match they turn over the result in Cantabria against Racing. It is also chance for them to take the leadership again, because Real Madrid and Deportivo will play each other.
Villareal will be without Victor and Palermo in attack. They will play defensivly.
Here is the probable squads:

Real Sociedad: Westerveld; López Rekarte, Kvarme, Jauregi, Aranzabal; Xabi Alonso, Aranburu, Karpin, De Pedro; Nihat and Kovacevic.
Villarreal: Reina, Belletti, Ballesteros, Quique Alvarez, Arruabarrena; Josico, Medina, Jorge López, Guayre, Calleja and De Nigris

My ratings for this match is:
Real Sociedad 41.7 – Villareal 23
Home win at @1.60
