Antwerp-Lokeren X2 @ 1.23 with Gamebookers

Antwerp is a rather unpredictable team, they can do good things, but also can disappoint their fans completely. Lokeren is the inform team in Belgium and are really going for the 2nd Champions League ticket. Normally this is a game where Lokeren should not have too much problems, but they miss topstriker Bangoura, who will be replaced by Kimoto or Baldvinson. Antwerp is without Kubik, Mussa and Yi. Since tomorrow there is a certain Anderlecht-Brugge, this is an excellent opportunity for the visitors to jump over Anderlecht and secure (temporarily) 2nd place. Dunno how Antwerp will respond to this game (they were really motivated on training i saw on report on local Antwerp tv for this game) and so i will take a double to cover myself...

2/ Standard-Lommel 1 @ 1.44 with Bluesq

Standard plays with its regulars and confronts a mix of Lommels first choice and youngsters. This could be Lommels last game in Jupiler League (the players paid themselves their wages for this one, insured themselves and organised themselves transport to the game) but i don't think Standard will be ready to overcome the humiliation by not winning this game. Standard has an excellent H2H against Lommel.

3/ Racing Genk-Mons 1 @ 1.53 with OddsAlive

Racing Genk must fight for Uefacup ticket and Mons has nothing to win or loose anymore. Genk plays at its strongest (with Sonck-Dagano in attack), whereas Mons must reorganise its defense (normally its strongest compartment) because of absence of 3 first choice defenders of which Ciobotariu is a keyplayer.

4/ Charleroi-Lierse Charleroi on asian 1/4:0 @ 1.81 with Gamebookers

Charleroi took 13 out of 15 in last five homegames and managed an awaywin in Brugge last weekend. They are in superform and meet tonight a Lierse side which did not loose in 10 games. I expect a very tight game which probably will end in a draw...

5/ Moeskroen-St. Truiden (no bet)

6/ AA Gent-GBA 1 @ 1.50 with OddsAlive

GBA in crisis after losing for weeks now and it gets worse by the week, they lost last weekend at home against a not motivated Standard with 0-1 and played there their worst game of the season. Gent is playing decent recently and has some fine strikers (Kaklamanos to be the in form one) that will beat the handicaped GBA-team because of the absence of their keyplayers Bodor, Mokoena and Rudi. This is probably the easiest homewin of the weekend.

That's All for now
Good luck to All

Lommel

March 22 2003, 1:05 PM

PLAYERS WILL TURN OUT FOR FREE

Debt-ridden Lommel's former players are prepared to play for free in a bid to help the club try to stay in existence.

The club's professional players were informed by the club's liquidators that their contracts were terminated on Thursday, but the 13 want to play against Standard Liege for free and give the club some more survival time.

"Nobody seems willing to set up a non-profit making organisation, that's why the players are doing it for free," said defender David Brocken.

Lommel have debts of around £270,000 and need to pay the Belgian Football Association £27,000 as soon as possible otherwise they will fold.

But Brocken is optimistic that Lommel will make it until the end of the season.

"If we do this, we show everyone that we are ready to go all the way. After Saturday we will wait for responses and if that doesn't happen, it's probably over," he concluded.

Sunday Games

March 23 2003, 12:00 AM

Mechelen-La Louviere (no bet)

This game is only offered at Betzone at odds 4.50-3.60-1.55. Of course, Mechelen took 4 out of 6 in last two homegames, but can they do this also against a well organised La Louviere, which plays at its best? I don't think so, but the odds are not interesting and furthermore La Lou is in fine form and did not loose anymore in 4 games, but 3 of those were at home.

23/02/2003 La Louvière - Lommel 1 - 0
28/02/2003 La Louvière - Racing Genk 2 - 2
09/03/2003 Beveren - La Louvière 0 - 3
16/03/2003 La Louvière - Westerlo 0 - 0

08/02/2003 KV Mechelen - Club Brugge 0 - 8
15/02/2003 Lierse - KV Mechelen 3 - 0
22/02/2003 KV Mechelen - Sint-Truiden 0 - 0
02/03/2003 Lokeren - KV Mechelen 5 - 0
08/03/2003 KV Mechelen - G. Beerschot 2 - 0
15/03/2003 Lommel - KV Mechelen 4 - 1

Westerlo-Beveren (no bet)

Beveren lost three times on a row and took only 6 points out of its last 8 games (2W-6L). Westerlo started the second round with two wins, but took after that only two points in 6 games. Quite difficult match to predict, especially since there is no more relegation worries for both teams (after the Mechelen and Westerlo bankrupcy) so i expect an open game in wich any result is possible.

19/01/2003 Bergen - Beveren 4 - 1
25/01/2003 Beveren - Club Brugge 2 - 7
09/02/2003 Beveren - Sint-Truiden 2 - 1
15/02/2003 Lokeren - Beveren 1 - 2
22/02/2003 Beveren - G. Beerschot 3 - 1
01/03/2003 Lommel - Beveren 3 - 2
09/03/2003 Beveren - La Louvière 0 - 3
15/03/2003 Beveren - Racing Genk 1 - 4

19/01/2003 Anderlecht - Westerlo 0 - 2
25/01/2003 Westerlo - Bergen 2 - 0
08/02/2003 Westerlo - Lierse 1 - 2
15/02/2003 Sint-Truiden - Westerlo 1 - 0
22/02/2003 Westerlo - Lokeren 1 - 3
01/03/2003 G. Beerschot - Westerlo 1 - 1
08/03/2003 Westerlo - Lommel 1 - 2
16/03/2003 La Louvière - Westerlo 0 - 0

Anderlecht-Brugge (to follow later)
