Ripon 2.00

Richard Hannon has made a storming start to the season with his two year olds, but suffered a reverse yesterday, and here his colt Top Spec is chosen to make his debut. Drawn 11 of 11 though he has a mountain to climb from there, and at around the 3.50 mark is one to oppose solely because of his draw.

The one to be on is his market rival Shank On Fourteen which is incidentally owned by golfer Lee Westwood. He has a good draw in 3, and has the benefit of a run already under his belt. A heavily backed favourite that day at Musselburgh, after a tardy start quickly went into the lead before being headed close home. That experience will be invaluable, and although this is a slightly better race everything looks in place for a good run.

3.50 is available at Betfair as this is being written, and it maybe significant that Sporting Odds the only traditional firm betting on this have cut him into 3.00 from 3.50.

Bill Turner runs Gameset'n'Match in the same race he said before the Brocklesby that this was by far his best 2yo and was sorely disappointed with its first run..i will watch this one rather than bet in it.

One that i like the look of today is Mubeen in the 3-05 at Ripon ..Ed Dunlop has high hopes for this horse this year after a poor season last year he feels his horses are right back to there best and that he feels this one will run really well...it is short though at around 7/4.

good analysis and won easily at sp 9/4. Got 4.0 on betdaq before racing..Top Spec broke badly which can be expected for a debut run..
congrats

Top Spec ....

could afford no mistakes from that draw, considering the market support is one to watch out for next time if he gets a more favourable berth

Shank On Fourteen won easily, and conenctions must have felt hard done by to lose last time, considering the way he bolted up today in this better race.
