Ripon 2.00Richard Hannon has made a storming start to the season with his two year olds, but suffered a reverse yesterday, and here his colt Top Spec is chosen to make his debut. Drawn 11 of 11 though he has a mountain to climb from there, and at around the 3.50 mark is one to oppose solely because of his draw.
The one to be on is his market rival
Shank On Fourteen which is incidentally owned by golfer Lee Westwood. He has a good draw in 3, and has the benefit of a run already under his belt. A heavily backed favourite that day at Musselburgh, after a tardy start quickly went into the lead before being headed close home. That experience will be invaluable, and although this is a slightly better race everything looks in place for a good run.
3.50 is available at Betfair as this is being written, and it maybe significant that Sporting Odds the only traditional firm betting on this have cut him into 3.00 from 3.50.
