Not a lot to enthuse over today, with mainly 3yo races the order of the day and not my cup of tea. However I do have one bet in the opening race at Ripon

2.05 Ripon

Only one runner here with experience, Cotosol and that is the one of interest, against 7 unraced juveniles which on breeding do not look out of the ordinary.

The Racing Post have certainly helped the price of this one by giving a non too complimentary write up, but in truth for his two runs to date he has been desperately drawn, a fact which seems to have escaped them.

First up at Doncaster he had the worst draw of all 1 of 18 in the Brocklesby and finished down the field in 13th. The 1st, 2nd and 5th have all gone onto win races since. Then over course and distance he was badly drawn again 10 of 11, and although well beaten in 5th was noted as showing plenty of pace from his wide draw.

He has bagged a nice draw here, just one off the rail in stall 2 which should hopefully allow him to jump out and grab the best possible racing position on the rail. Certainly at the prices being floated on Betfair last night he looks well worth a decent bet.

Cotosol .....

has been quite heavily backed at Betfair, now into around 9'2. I managed to average just over 7'1 for my money which I am pleased with. If the price continues to shrink to under 4'1, I would reduce my stakes to reflect the disappearing value

Sickening ....

to see the race unfold as planned and then get caught inside the final furlong.

Still that's racing I guess and the horse was not quite good enough, it's all the more frustrating though when I get 7'1 about a horse which is backed off the boards to 9'4

Still day off tomorrow, then probably no bets on Saturday as I'm off to see the opening day of the World Snooker Championships at Sheffield

I watched the race earlier and thought it was going strongly and then David Barrons horse went past....don't know about anyone else but this years Craven meeting was below par for me..absolutely nothing jumped out at me and certainly nothing of note made me think i wanted to keep an eye on one..a race i always look forward to looking at The Wood Ditton as it usually throws up quite a few winners later on in the season was a major disappointment to me as they had few runners ..although the Equine Virus in Newmarket may have been the cause of this.

I thought the watered ground ......

did not help and horses were noted several times changing their legs. Because a lot of the events are restricted to 3yo, this is normally a quiet meeting for me.
