Full throttle in Austria this midweek, and I have to admit I was quite surprised in a positive direction when I saw the prices for this one, so here`s a pick for you:
RIED - SALZBURG, 2 @ 2.75 (Unibet ++)

For those of you who follow the Austrian league every now and then, Ried is probably noticed as a fresh breath in a league shadowed by Austria Wien`s walk-trough season and the economical scandals (Tirol).
But Ried had a surprisingly good autumn season which left them "up there", fighting for the ecup spots behind Austria. Their game was solid for a long time, but things have changed a bit after the winter-break, and 2-1-5 in 8 games since the break isn`t even near of the performances they showed off a few months ago.
For Salzburg things have turned the other way. After a very poor autumn season, their game has been lifted to another dimension during recent weeks, and if they keep the spirit trough-out the springseason, then the 2nd place behind Austria should be a possible target.
Salzburg got a few re-inforcements both on a off the pitch during the winterbreak, and their form is excellent with 4 wins a row, amongst them two strong away wins against Rapid and Pasching. They have also got themselves a brand new 30 000 stadium with something as weird as a supermodern artificial-grass surface (!)
Last match Salzburg trashed Bregenz by 4-1 while Ried lost 0-2 against an Austria Wien team hit by injuries. But losing to Wien isn`t any shame even with the injuries, that`s the only team which Salzburg has lost to this part of the season as well. But Ried are not stabilized in their defensive section, they lost 4-2 away to Sturm before the Wien match and have also suffered losses like 1-3 home to Bregenz, and 0-3 away to Pasching (just a week before Salzburg beat them on away grass) this side of the season.
For Salzburg, Messner is expected to shake off a smaller injury and participate again here, while Marasek and Tomic probably will stay out injured.
Ried suffers the loss of Anakündüz and Angerschmid (suspension) for this one, both players are regulars who`ll be missed.
As Salzburg continue to steamroll their way trough the Max. Bundesliga, Ried looks out of balance and way below-par nowadays, and as the situation is in both squads nowadays I can hardly see why Ried is being touted as favorites for this one.
Salzburg has a good chance in getting 3 new important points here, and the odds of 2.75 is worth a medium stake in my eyes.

Will probably go for the 2/2 (HT/FT) as well as long as a below 2.5 in the Rapid - GAK match, two well organized defenses without the big sting in offense section nowadays. Haven`t found better odds than 1.75 though, would like 1.80 here.....
