Why do you exclude odds on lays from your system?

April 25 2003, 10:04 PM

Just curious, but I've seen quite a few lose. And if they win, then your £££ loss is small by your staking plan.

Re: Week 7 laying horses££££$$$$$$$$££££££.

April 25 2003, 11:03 PM

The staking plan is based on 1 point a lay,the last 6 weeks were based on £1,£2,£3,£4,£5,£6 a point. If the system made a profit at £1 a lay then the next week it went to £2 a lay and so on,this is just to show people that you can up your cash amount per point weekly to give a bigger cash return weekly.
If the system has a losing week say at £7 then i will trade at £7 until it goes into profit thus getting back any losses lost over 1,2,3 weeks ect then when in profit i up to £8 for the next week and so on.
I lay at well above this amount as this and another few laying systems make me my living on Betfair.

The system is

Use the Racing Post only.
The fav horse must have 3 or more horses with a higher rating to be a lay.
No odds on lays.
No rating on fav no lay.
If 2 horses are joint ratings and joint favs and have 3 horsesor more above in the ratings then no lay.
Price bracket i work in is evens to 4/1 and no higher.
Races must be 6 and above.

Will update rest of week in next couple of days, anybody need to know anything about the system just ask.

Sorry, odds on horses lose only 30% of races a year, plus with this system when a horse is odds on it will prob have the highest rating in the race so you would never be able to lay it.there are weak odds on horses every week but to lay these long term i would say a lot of form study is needed.

April 26 2003, 12:38 AM

Iv been trying this system with a few changes since monday. I was up over £50 monday and have had at least £20 profit a day since.
Iv had 6 horses that have let me down but 4 of those were c&d winners.
Its a good system and im going to start putting my result up from monday.

Theres only one stalyvegas, one stalyvegas, its a beautiful town with a new cannal walking in a vegas wonderland :D

DannyBoy, have you considered...

April 26 2003, 7:16 AM

whenever you get a "live" selection to lay using your system, then before you pull the trigger just watch the opening show. If the expected fav opens shorter OR GOES SHORTER than the RP forecast sp, then leave it alone - no lay. If it drifts from the forecast, lay it. That additional rule based on money flows helped me avoid a big down day last Monday as quite a few of the selections shortened in. Eg The Real Bandit, The Alleycat, Devant, Bed Bug.

Of course, this refinement will force you to miss a few lays that lose their race but I like the idea of combining a weak form rating with a weak market action, even though this means you have to be stuck by a tv screen for every relevant race.

DannyBoy, just checking your system results for Monday

April 26 2003, 7:26 AM

Several of your selections listed shouldn't have been laid using your rules:

Parasol was RP 2nd fav
Seel of Approval was 11/2 fav in RP
Bramantino was 9/1 4th fav in RP
Academy was 6/1 4th fav in RP
Namroud was 15/2 5th fv in RP.

Have you mixed up several systems in a rush to publish your results? We all do it!

Itsamugsgame you have the system mixed up
If the fav at the off before a race has 3 horses with a higher rating (the ratings being the form figure next to the horses name)then the horse is a lay,the price the Racing Post gives in its paper has no bearing on the horse if its a lay or not only the form figures count with this system.

Sorry, Dannyboy.

April 26 2003, 7:30 PM

I misinterpreted your rules. Mind you, you didn't specify that it was the official SP fav that was the target of your system, and not the RP forecast fav, as I had assumed.

Anyhow, I think i'll stick with the RP fav for the time being, and monitor its changing odds under the influence of the money flows. Hamadeena (Sedgefield 5.05) was another good lay today that drifted in the betting from 13/8 RP fav.

Dannyboy has stated this sp numerous times in his posts. Sometimes the favourite of a race can change in the last minute.

Keep up the good work Dannyboy

I've been out today and I am a bit pissed, admittedly.

So treat my thoughts with the contempt as necessary. But my main concern about your system was the staking plan rather than the system itself. Was there any particular reason for 'upping' the stakes week on week ? 'Cos obviously week 9 - for example - could virtually wipe out any gains in,say, weeks 1- 6.personally,I would be a bit steadier with the stakes.Only asking,in case your staking plan was to prove a particular point.'Cos the system is,maybes, about as good as horse racing systems get !

Please keep posting updates.Reckon there are Miles & Miles in this !!

Hi still to update the 6th day of week 7 will do this in the morning. You can use any staking amounts you want with this system the reason i was using the staking going up a cash amount weekly was just to show how you could make cash fast,i see what your saying Mulv and i maybe should start using a more softer staking method as i dont use this myself now as i have hit my laying target with my bank and will only move my cash amount up after in another 2 months.
From Monday i will lay all bets at 1 point thanks for your views and thoughts, and happy punting folks.
