Hibernian vs Motherwell - I do not understand the prices!

Hi,

I am curious about the prices for this game and cannot understand how bookmakers calculated them. Up to 1.8 is available for the Hibs to beat Motherwell at home.

I can only see the ratings for the previous round in the rating section yet, but I assume there will be a huge gap as Hibs already had 79 points, beating Aberdeen (129) afterwards, while Motherwell was at 15, drawing at home Dundee Utd. with ridiculous 4 rating points so presumably further dropping.

My ratings from http://www.soccerratings.info show a very similar case: Hibs at 1987 (this is close to the average of 2000) are miles ahead of Motherwell @ 1723, which is a very low number that is only under-reached by teams like Sunderland ...

But also a a quick glimpse at the table says that Motherwell are crap, esp. away.

I really cannot understand this and think that 1.8, even 1.75, is a huge price. At an exchange, I wouldnt dare to set more than 1.5.

BTW, it is interesting that in this round Celtic and the Rangers are both facing "the best of the rest" when they welcome Hearts and Killie. Prices like 1.15 are never value in these games, maybe one of them ends with a surprise ...

Love and money, Alp

My ratings show Hibernian 177 - Motherwell 76 and if I turn that to odds it's 1.49 5.00 7.69 (67% 20% 13%).

Maybe bookies are thinking that 'Well still have something to play for and Hibs don't...

The bookies

are probably pricing them on a combination of theor overall ability (they arenot that good or they wouldn't be playing Motherwell) and the fact Motherwell are fighting to get off the bottom. As for Celtic and Rangers the odds are pretty accurate, the 'rest' as you call it are a far away chasing pack to the old firm at home. Good Luck

PS Motherwell had not very good news as I reported elsewhere, the 20 players they sacked last season had an appeal upheld and now sometime Motherwell will have to pay them compensation which they cannot afford, not good for the morale. Hibs should win but are playing for nothing.

Finally!!!

What I meant with best of the rest was, why back Celtic 1.15 vs Hearts when you can get the same price next week in a game against Motherwell. Maybe its 1.10 then, but still "safer" than vs Hearts or Killie imo.

I did misunderstand, see what you mean, but Celtic and Rangers at home against any shoudl be returns on stakes

Celtic struggling to score a second today though, Ranger will almost certainly take the opportunity to go top and score 3 or more tomorrow!

Take Rangers at -1 tomorrow!!
