Poll: Which online bookie is the best??

I'm looking to open another online betting account for summer as Eurobet has limited bets during summer due to the lack of football. I've been looking at Paddy Power, Skybet, Tote and Bet365. Just wondering if any1 currently has an account with any of these and whether they would reccommend or not reccommend them.

Cheers,
Wez

Depends on a few things

May 22 2003, 1:18 PM

...If you are English and your bet size is very small i.e under £20.00 per units then the only ones I would recommend from your list is PaddyPower / Bet365.

If your bet size is higher then these two have a tendency to limit betsize if you are regularly successful.

If you bet large then you have got to go to Willhill / Ladbrokes if you do not want limits set all the time. If you do not mind being outside UK then I have found Oz bookies Yabet / Centrebet as excellent...i.e dont limit bet size because of success and pay out quickly.

Hope this helps

Depends on what you bet on and value at a bookie as daz has written... there was a thread about good & bad things about bookies a week ago (wasn't it?)...

Of all the bookies I ever used

May 22 2003, 3:56 PM

there are two out of all the accounts I have opened that I keep going back to and these are

William Hill
Gamebookers

The reason I use gamebookers is because it has smaller leagues that Hills don't have, I Hills simply for trust and not for odds, they are fast payout and fast everything, reliable and dependable.

Behind that I have probably used Ladbrokes, Bluesq, Sportingbet, Bet365, Betinternet and Sportingodds and to a lesser degree Betzone. Have used some others like Stanley and Paddy's but not much.

never had a problem with any of those

If I pick a favourite its Hills, closely followed by Gamebookers.

Only bookie I have in common with Jhim is Gamebookers, only for their over/under odds. Other favourites are centrebet, expekt, scandic, nordicbet, unibet and interwetten...

Four best for the time being....

May 22 2003, 4:45 PM

In order of respect basically for reliability and fast, without probs payouts:

William Hill
Interwetten
Expect
Gamebookers

For big spenders it's Hill. And they're as old as a sin and respectable.I think the oldest ,Jhim?

As far as I know

May 22 2003, 4:53 PM

Hills may be the oldest, I haven't looked into it to be honest, they are the oldest I know of, maybe Victor Chandler is pretty old and Ladbrokes has been around for ages too, will see if I can find out.

Agree with the majority that has been said!
Am surprised not to see Premierbet in there as they are very reliable and very fast payouts and offer some of the best prices on the net and there leagues they cover are slowly growing and also there odds compiler can sometimes be very generous on there overs !

I use in the main

Premierbet
Bet365
Willhill
Gamebookers
Sportingodds
Totalbet
Bluesq
Skybet
Stanjames

Avoid BET365 because they slash your limits down to nothing when you win not even much money. To forget.

Also forget Betzone because they are not trustful. They remove bets from your account completely !

Good for use are:

  • CANBET
  • CENTREBET
  • UNIBET
  • PLAYIT
  • EXPEKT
  • HILL
  • LADBROKES

to name a view

The story on William Hill is a great read

May 22 2003, 5:55 PM

going back to the days when he had his bagmen on the corner of the streets taking bets on the horses..the majority of the big bookies in the UK all started off doing the horses then branched out many years later..if you can get a hold of Ron Pollards book it is also a good read he was an odds compiler for Ladbrokes..also the legendary pro punter Alex Birds book is a must read...the majority of the bookie shops owned by William Hills in the West Country were originially opened by Top racehorse trainer Martin Pipes dad David Pipe and he sold out to them for £1 million in the early 70's.

I have a couple of books regards the bookies in the old days will try to put some stuff up if i have the time.

Would recommend most of the bookies already mentioned. However, I would say Premierbet's odds are nowhere near as good as they were pre-Christmas, and they do take about a week to pay to a debit card.
Over the course of the season, I would say Centrebet because my favourite bookmaker, because they don't have low limits, pay winnings very quickly (often before the stake has been debited from your account) and offer reasonable odds usually.
If you want a free diary at Christmas, open a Stan James account, as they are very eager to give them away!

I have been using

May 22 2003, 7:50 PM

Tote Bet Express more recently they give decent enough odds and the payout time is very quick usually within 10 mins of a winning bet and if you want to put any winnings back onto your debit card this usually happens within 10 mins as well..Premierbet are like most firms before them offer decent odds to get the customers and   then slowly but surely cut the odds back..Bet365 done the same before them..Paddy Power is  one i don't use much now as they don't let you get decent amounts on when you win..Betzone i would avoid had problems with them in the past myself and the customer service wasn't good ...William Hill are good but my payments are slow compared to others..you either take Ladbrokes or leave them but they are one of the top bookies..Victor Chandler has had some bad publicity recently and it would be wise to wait and see with them....a customer in Scotland last week had an account shut down with Paddy Power because he had won just over £1500..hardly bank breaking stuff..Joe Punter of the Sunday Mail is investigating to find out why they shut his account.

Betandwin

May 22 2003, 8:18 PM

Avoid Betandwin-if you win with big stakes- they close your account. Many, many Polish punters made complaint about it as they took advantage of B&W's completely overpriced odds on some Polish games( comparing to Belgium e.g.:Brugge-Mechelen @1,5).

I find Centrebet very good (really quick payouts, high limits ). I've also had no problems with Swapbets. The big firms William Hill and Ladbrokes are ok. But Victor Chandler is the pits if your're betting bigger than normal, as soon as you are on a winning streak (e.g. a win of 5000 Euros on one weekend ), they close your account.

Premierbet

May 22 2003, 8:56 PM

...you have either got to be a consistently losing punter or a winner who never bets more than a few quid.

Within 3 weeks of opening an account with them my bet size was reduced and reduced until such time that when wanting to bet on Cardiff ...v...Colchester @ 1.57 they reduced me to a £3 stake.

Bloody pathetic...however Cardiff lost so at least I saved my three quid !!!

All this is just my opinion of course.

Ultimately though, it is a bookmaker's choice about whether to accept bets from a particular person. I would suggest finding a good friend or family member to open an account in their name for you to get around it if your account is closed.

Premierbet

May 22 2003, 9:01 PM

That is strange. From August to November I hit Premierbet for a large sum, and never had my limit reduced as far as I could see. Since then only used them maybe 3 or 4 times because of the reduction in odds, but they were still willing to lay me £600 for a bet last week

suprises me as he has always said in the past that he would lay to decent amounts..he always used to on the Horse racing scene..maybe the stories of he no-lose accounts have made him rethink things..will have to find out if Freddie Williams betsonline as he takes decent bets on the course for footie along with racing ..i know he has shops in the West of Scotland will try to find out..this is the bookie that takes on JP McManus and his £1 million bets.

Premierbet must just h8 me then

May 22 2003, 9:40 PM

...What I did notice was that every time I tried to place a large bet when they were offering top odds on a particular game then I was always reduced down to a pittance ( especially when odds on ) - I also know of many of the lads at another forum ( many are propunters ) who had exactly the same thing happen to 'em.

Zonker the sums in question on each occasion were considerably higher than what you mentioned above...so perhaps they have a threshold which they start to get a nosebleed about ( BetandWin / Gamebookers are the same in my experience ).

All I know is that Laddies / Willhills / Centrebet / Yabet have never restricted my stake size so they see more of my money than others.

That's the thing though, I had more success with them than any other bookmaker early in the season. Especially on the day Bristol City came back from 4-2 down with three minutes left to beat Mansfield 5-4. I won a five-figure sum in a short time, but still didn't get my limit reduced

Well...

May 22 2003, 9:51 PM

Daz,
Do not underestimate the fact that they know who you are.
Their people scan the important web pages on betting. They also take ideas from us.They have to know what their clients are thinking besides having other sources.

The biggest amount I have won so far in a week was 9.000
Euro last year in Expekt. They paid me in 7 days. Then I went on to win another 1700 the following week.No reductions or anything. They just carried out their work as usual.

Sometimes though, when important info has come out making surer a certain result they do 2 things.Reduce the odds drastically and when you post they tell you that the betting amount you took may be reduced by them.In a matter of half an hour tops, you are informed by e-mail whether this has happened or not.Strangely enough,in the 5 or 6 times this incident took place they allowed me to play as amuch as I ahd originally placed. To cut a long story short, I think that they are fast establishing themselves as a very solid bookie.

One more thing I like ,is that when I have a small complaint or question, after a few times of e-mailing they speak to you in a personal, friendly way calling you by your first name.I like that.

May 23 2003, 8:46 AM

Bluekoba is exactly what i was thinking.
Way over my limits and bets and is probably why my bets dont stop eventhou i have done well especially at Premierbet who i consider a lucky bookie for me
And Zonker i have taken Premierbet for a 5 figure some many time and only the other day i cashed 250.50

I also agree with Benny that Daz's reputation quite possibly is known by these people and is probably why they limit his stakes so drastically!

Heres hoping you all hit the bookies hard again next season!

Scott

I have to admit thou that is why i like the points/units idea as nobody really knows what others are betting per point and 1 person doing £2 and another doing 2k is only comparative to what they can afford and not how good they are!
I personally couldnt afford to bet anything like what some people do above and Daz said about small £ per point of 20 and to be honest mine isnt as high as that even

...that is interesting re the 5 figure sum being taken from Premierbet without a reduction in your bet size limit.

Perhaps they look at ( again pure speculation ) the betting trends. For instance I only bet with Premierbet 3 times in my 3 week spell...all large bets and all at odds on.

Fortunately they all won...it was when I tried to place a fourth large odds on bet approx 3 weeks later than they had reduced my bet size limit to £3.

Perhaps Zonker you used Premierbet more frequently than this? This would mean that Premierbet may have thought that it would have taken them longer to re coup their money from you if they reduced your stake size.

I think possibly the mistake I make is to withdraw my winnings after every bet ( I never leave any money in any accounts after losing a fair sum to Luvbet ) - perhaps it is a bit of all of the above.

Zonker...do you still use them frequently and to larger sums with no problems?

Cheers m8...I am getting all annoyed now ( the Gits )

You might have someting there ...

May 23 2003, 10:45 AM

... when you mention withdrawing money from accounts.

I'm not a HIGH roller (I can't ever remember a five figure payout) but tend to bet in hundreds of Euros as a basic stake ...

I don't EVER withdraw immediately following a win because it generally costs me conversion rates (as not many bookies accept the New Zealand Peso) to bring money back home

Once a balance gets over 2,500 Euros then I'll trim it back to 1,000 (or therabouts) and use it to pay off the mortgage.

I've never had any bookie ping me with reduced limits.
Just lucky I guess.

I´m wondering about why the majority of the bookies are so backward that they prefer to get rid of the sharp players instead of following them and make money themeselves...

Re: Poll: Which online bookie is the best??

May 25 2003, 10:14 PM

Sorry Daz haven't checked this thread for a couple of days. I did use Premierbet more than you, you're right there. In the Autumn I probably placed around 50 or so bets with them. Most of these bets were in the £500-£1000 range. I did a few doubles over that period, so maybe they thought that I would start losing soon enough. Continued being very successful though.
Since January, placed I think 3 bets with them. When I think about it now, I was refused a stake of about £600 on an Over/Under bet a while back and restricted to about £415. Apart from that though, no problems at all.
Despite all that has been said, I regard Premierbet as a good bookmaker and reliable. They do take up to a week to pay winnings to a debit card, but apart from that no problems at all. They have dropped their odds over the course of this season, but all new bookmakers do that when they have succeeded in attracting a fair few customers.
Interesting what was said about keeping money in accounts. Personally I withdraw it all when I win, apart from when they will be charges for depositing again.

...your frequency of bets is probably the reason. You have been posting on here for a while now and I know that you have some discipline to your betting...therefore if you have bet 50 times with them then I think it is safe to say they are one of your preferred bookies.

Therefore it stands to reason that a bookie might not limit your odds as they have got more potential to get it back...with me they were stung big time 3 times in a month all at odds on so probably thought sod that !!!

Thanks M8...I am glad to see they are rewarding good customers like you...even if it does mean punishing cheeky gits like me who are just after top odds!!!
