Klaus Augenthaler could be about as welcome back at the Frankenstadion here on Saturday as Frankenstein with a raging thirst.
Until he was sacked at the end of last month, Augenthaler had been one of Nurmberg's favourite sons, having joined the club in 2000 and won them promotion to the top flight the very next year.
But he left under a cloud on April 30 with Nurmberg already doomed to relegation - the big drop was finally confirmed last week when they lost 2-1 to bottom club Cottbus.
Augenthaler, meanwhile, wasn't out of a job for long.
It seemed no time before he was picked up by the equally at-risk Bayer Leverkusen in the hope that he could be the one to haul them clear of the drop zone.
But a rumour quickly spread in Nuremburg that Augenthaler had in fact started negotiating with Bayer while he was still in charge at the Frankenstadion.
That's why the fans are just as likely to turn on him on Saturday, especially now that Bayer are reportedly close to signing Nuremberg midfielder David Jarolim for next season.
Leverkusen climbed out of the drop zone to 15th place last Saturday with a stunning 3-0 win over mid-table 1860 Munich and victory on Saturday over hapless Nurnberg would just about guarantee their Bundesliga survival.
As it is, injuries have all but decimated the hosts with Augenthaler's successor as coach, Wolfgang Wolf, without no fewer than 10 players though injury or suspension.
The list includes Tomas Kos (meniscus), Frank Wiblishauser (calf), Marek Nikl, Milorad Popovic (both flu), Dusan Petkovic (Achilles), Stephan Passlack (red card), Anthony Sanneh (back), Thomas Stehle (calf), Tommy Larsen (knee) and Nenad Bjelic (back).
The situation is so serious that Wolf might be forced to start junior team member Dominik Reinhardt in defence.
Augenthaler is relatively free of free of injury concerns. with the exception of Jens Nowotny and Zoltan Sebescen (knee), both long-term absentees.
But he will be aware that Leverkusen last season blew the Bundesliga title at Nuremberg when they went down 1-0 in round 33.
Early thoughts before bed, will go for Scandinavian ligues because all others are near end and every thing is posible

I am thinking of Home win here. Forward did lose last two games but the overal goal dif is 12:12 wich is 4th best record in the ligue. The two wins are against lower teams at the moment, wich is the case with Malme.
Malme lose last four and goal dif. is 4:11 overal. It was maybe the hard teams to beat but 4 goals in 6 games is a scoring problem!!
HOME win at 2.25 GB COMMENTS please

I think this is obvius, only if there is injuries so please comment
I totally agree and because of the importance to some teams to win and not to others i think the bookies really do exagerate the prices and i am tempted to do a small lucky 31 on the so called under dogs as some wont go to plan!
There are some bog prices on good teams because they supposedly are only going to turn up!
Roma over 3.2 at home and Lazio 4.5 away and more Bologna at home 4.50 + to name but 3.
And ok parma should win but 1.40 away to Empoli is a mad price and i cant think Empoli will roll over for them.
monchengladbach vs bremen 1 2,76 3pts gb
gladbach need at least draw in relegation race,. guest must win to reach uefa cup place but will enjoy hard times today.
motherwell vs livingston 2 2,55 3pts gb
shitty motherwell were saved in spl at the expense of div1 winners from falkirk. they are loosers and have poor record against livvy.
occuring in Czech league right now, at the moment Slavia who start the day in second have first place with 30 minutes to go because Sparta are a goal down at home to Olomouc, Slavia have much better goal difference, if Sparta can't score they have blown it on tha last day, talk about losing your bottle
there are some very good reasons why leverkusen were as low as 1.37 today (also available at 1.57) i tell u later if u are interested, too busy listening to the game at the mo!
If Leverkusen win they will stay up. Not enough to justify such a low price, but the word in Germany is that this one has been "arranged" by the leverkusen and nuernberg chairmen when Auge became the leverkusen manager. The Nuernberg chairman said this week that it would be good if Leverkusen stayed up so Nuernberg wouldnt have to contend with them for promotion next season.
The nuernberg trainer has also announced that 8 players were "suddenly" not fit, so they have two youth team players in defence today.
Nuernberg are also skint and Leverkusen are buying two of their players for next season.
Wish i was watching it too! Its torture listening to games on the radio!
score at Bielefeld so they are pretty much screwed now.
Nurnberg have been pressing at times but I am suspicous their final bal sometimes leaves a little to be desired, one just got scopped 60 ft in the air a couple minutes ago, was supposed to be a cross frmo the wing and I think it hit a seagull
did me in bigtime again
I cant understand how they cant beat allready releagted Cottbus who they had beat 4-0 away .
And now they have to play a CL qualifying match over 2 legs
Have done me in a few times this season .
I did the Overs and a Dortmund, hamburg and Monaco treble
it has taken until now to get the PC back up and running, so today I had to brave to local bookmakers to place my bet on Bournemouth to beat Lincoln in the Division 3 play off.
Still a winner is a winner, even if I was tied to taking less odds than would have been available on Betfair.
How the shops change, with fruit machines, cash machines and virtual racing. One thing never changes .... the nutter punter, who bets on everything that moves including a numbers game called 49s with the percentages stacked heavily in the bookmakers favour ..... I'm glad to be online
