OMG!!
ALL traffic from the coast into Eastern Highlands province were halted starting Sunday morning until after midday yesterday.
Semi-trailers, PMVs and family sedans where held up for miles at Kompiri, when a roadblock was mounted by relatives of a young woman teacher from Kasetina Primary School in Henganofi, who was killed and chopped to pieces.
The relatives had alleged that she was killed by her suitor, believed to be from Mt Hagen, Western Highlands province, for declining a proposal.
The woman, in her late 20s, had just graduated from Balob Teachers College in Lae and had been in her first year of teaching.
Sources at the site of the road block said the parents and relatives of the woman had turned down marriage offers by the suitor on several occasions.
They said around midnight last Saturday, the man went to the womans house and killed her before chopping her into pieces and escaped.
When the relatives realised the murder, they blocked the highway to monitor all vehicles.
Container trucks and passenger vehicles were prevented from passing through by locals armed with knives, axes and bows and arrows.
Eastern Highlands provincial police commander Chief Insp Augustine Wampe said it took the whole day to negotiate with the locals to clear the roadblock .

Kompri and general EHP people are the most peace loving people you will find in PNG, but turn on the bad side and that is far worse then those from places higher up in the mountains.
