and about half of them voted for Obama, if you assume that all donations were made by 10% of those people, that would make about 15 million donors at 60 dollars each.
Now, while I'm sure that didn't happen exactly that way, if you assume a couple of people made very large donations, and the average donation was $100 dollars, it's not unrealistic.
Here in Canada, the conservative party is a fundraising behemoth because they have a large base that donates around 100 dollars a year on average.
But we do have contribution limits here. 1100 dollars to each party at the riding level, and 1100 each at the federal level. And during the campaign, I was amazed at the people who would walk in and donate.
