| So sad. It's so quiet.
Hey, Sooth, we're getting gully washers here in So Cali, and hail, and snow.
On top of that, we just had our fourth water pipe break in the house. Now all of our pipes coming out of the cement slab are capped off and rerouted with new lines, so they said we shouldn't have any more of that.
But now we have to have our wood laminate floors and kitchen floor pulled up and replaced. Thank God for insurance because we sure couldn't have afforded this unless we sold the house. We just finished packing up the entire downstairs and moving it into the garage. So I will be living in my little room upstairs with my computer, tv, and sewing machine for 1 1/2 weeks.
That's all that's going on in my world at the moment. Other than slipping in some slimy water on the backyard patio and falling, causing some major bone bruising. I'm too old for acrobatics. |

There's no sound but the howling of the wind. Miserably cold still, although, just maybe, slightly less cold than previously.
So what's the deal with your pipes breaking? Is it because they're freezing, or because of shoddy workmanship? Your place is kind of new, I thought.
So I guess right about now, or soon, you'll be moving back downstairs. What a pain in the ass. And why are you surfing slime puddles when the Pacific is a short drive away? |

Freezing pipes? In Calif? Surely you jest?
The house is 20 years old/young, and these were the copper pipes that were coming out of our cement slab. Apparently cement and copper don't like each other much. This last one was kinked when the cement was poured, and they sodered the crack, which obviously didn't survive. So all the pipes coming out of the cement have been sealed off, and they all run along with ceiling in our garage now.
All the floors have been repaired or replaced as of Friday (only took 1 1/2 weeks) and hopefully tomorrow hubby can get help to carry the furniture back in from the garage. Then I get the fun job of emptying boxes back into their rightful places. That would be my books, one china cabinet, and lots of niknaks. But methinks a lot of those things won't be put out. The other cabinet fortunately had wheels and we just moved it around. I was not about to bubblewrap all those teacups.
The slime surfing is only allocated to one small spot on the patio slab where water puddles, and I now have a chair sitting over the top of it so no more impromptu surfing happens.
We had some really heavy rain off and on for a week, and just got three days of 75d weather, and now dropping back to 60s for a little rain on Monday. But it looks like we're not getting much rain again this year. They're talking major water rationing since we're loosing our imported water from N. Calif, which is 80% of our water usage. | |
