In level 3 we also race 50% with relative usage enabled and I'm sure most if not all cars pitted at least once. I opted for relative usage on because although I wanted these classes to run at 50% distance, I wanted pit strategy to come into play also.
For me, I usualy pit once more than the AI field. At Melbourne I pitted twice. With the game set at Pro, I don't think I'll ever qualify on the pole, but with a much lighter fuel load, I can more than make up for it with much faster laps during the race (1-2 seconds per lap faster than the AI when I'm out front). By the end of the race I was 20-30 seconds ahead of 2nd place, even with a few mental mistakes and a small spin (where I must have lost 8 seconds or so). Great, now everyone knows my secret
As for how race times are calculated when you're a few laps down, the race "times" are sorted by the number of laps completed (descending) first, then by total race time to determine your position. So even if you finished quicker time-wise, if you didn't complete as many laps, you're position is determined accordingly.
Don't worry about the questions
