I'm running as Ferrari - team 5 in my distribution and although team 2 are slightly faster there's no way I'm ever going to be a Maclaren driver. I hate the team! I was considering driving the new Jag but it has a large performance hit in RS2. The difference with the Maclaren is with acceleration and wheel spin as far as I can tell. The first being better and the second not as prominent.
As for Identical cars it just means they all have supposedly the same performance. However in my race the Ferraris, Maclarens, Williams and Benettons were definitely faster than the other cars so maybe it doesn't affect single player. Those 4 teams were the fastest when RS2 was released remember. It makes it more realistic Dan if we have different car perfomances. You are a Maclaren driver, I'm a ferarri driver - it just makes me want to beat you more as I know you have the better car.
As far as killing processes. The more CPU cycles you give RS2 the smoother your driving will be. I would expect most people to be faster if their FPS are more consistent and other processes are not getting in the way of your wheel inputs. BTW I have noticed that USB wheels are good for minimizing cpu utilization. I have a LWFF and can't say a bad thing about it. Using the 3.30 drivers.
