Yep, no fuel stops where allowed and FIA thought it clever to hold on to this rule so as to cut the tremendous horsepower the 1.5litre turbos produced.
Yep, the fuel boffins caught onto a loop hole in the rules where the fuel tank capacity was limited to the letter rather than the actual volume of fuel. Very smartly, a chap from ELF petroleum suggested that they freeze the fuel thus providing more volume
SO if FIA said tank is limited to 180litres a frozen volume could well see a driver have 210litres to his disposal for example. (Not sure of the exact figures)
Yep, Prost won at Imola as Johannson ran out of fuel but later that year, Prost ran out at Hockenheim and coasted over the line, he even undid his safety harness and threw his upper body back and forth in the cockpit to generate some momentum .....
Mansell (Lotus-Renault) ran out of fuel in the USA Dallas Grand PRix, jumped out of the car and PUSHED it home only to collapse and nearly having his own car run over him.
Those where the days, indeed
