hey guys, ive got a built L28E in my 280Z, runs a 13.9 1/4 with the SDS not being tuned very well...heres a problem though.

when the mix knob is at 0, she cuts out (power) at about 5700RPM. if i lean it out 15%, then it makes power up to 6.5K RPM...but the problem with that is that it pings on the interstate...

is it possible that my map fluctuates too much, where yeah, 15% leaner does rev and make power higher, but perhaps at some points on my map its running too lean???

im 19, read the SDS manual about 20000 times, and i still havent been able to figure it out quite right yet. ive got the SDS mixture meter, however, my alternator is putting out too much voltage, so its making the meter go off the chart a lot....

what do yal think about the map?

You don't want to change your whole fuel map, just the areas that need it. It sounds like the fuel is about right under regular cruising, but you need more in your rpm fuel maps. Do you have any kind of 02 sensor to go off of? Wideband would be best, but anything is better than nothing.

ive got the narrowband SDS meter hooked to the steering collum---

the only thing is, if i richen where it needs to be richened, where it pings, it (the engine) wont rev as high...

thats only using the MP values though, i never thought to mess with the RPM value.

By the sounds of it, it will be your rpm values that need changed. Your map value should be basically the same while under throttle in a n/a car while in the higher rpms. Adjust the rpm fuel and tell us how it works out.
