WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The gospel is summarized as the Death, Burial and Ressurecton of Christ. However, this is not a CREED but it is a FORM OF DOCTRINE (Romans 6:17). The death, burial and ressurection was accepted by being baptized into Christ so that we are resurrected to a new life (Rom 6:3-4). Yes, that means REGENERATED but not by water. The FORM means "style or resemblance, a model for imitation." This is all GRACE because our baptism means "INSTEAD OF." That means that we do not have to shed our own blood.

Because no human could be trusted, God sent His ARM as Jesus Christ. However, John would prepare the way by baptizing people in order that their sins be washed away. Malachi prophesied of John's baptism as the gospel:

"BEHOLD, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the WAY before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:1

Human pride does not allow most people to confess wrong and ask for help. Malacih warned that Messiah would baptize with fire. For believers, He makes our "clothing" clean and the fuller's soap attracts and washes away the dirt in our hearts.

The gospel or "good news" was that those who believed and repented could just be baptized.

"John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Mark 1:4

They were not baptized because their sins had already been remitted.

Many had looked for the SIGN of baptism as the good news or gospel that God was comming to them to remove their sins. This would give them A holy spirit or A clear conscience so that they could give heed to the Words of God. They would finally understand that God spoke to them through His Word.

"And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. Mark 1:5

Baptism demanded that they repent and confess that they NEEDED to be made pure just like becomming a little child.

Faith gives us the POWER to become children of God but children were not ADOPTED until they were washed and given a new name.

"And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24:47

When Christ returned in Spirit form as proven by the supernatural signs to the 12, Peter and the other 11 began preaching the HISTORY of Christ beginning in the Old Testament. Those who believed were not saved. Rather, they asked:

"Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, WHAT SHALL we DO? Acts 2:37

.."Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, and be BAPTIZED every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ FOR the remission of sins, and ye SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

Those whose human pride will not allowe them to be baptized want to have FAITH in a corner. This means that THEY are saved without the gift of A holy spirit, without repentance as well a without baptism

Jesus had commanded the Apostles to go out into the world and preach the SAME GOSPEL. Jesus shows that the FIRST response to the preached GOSPEL was BAPTISM. Those who did not belive did not obey and were therefore damned. They had rejected the counsel of God for their lives by REFUSING baptism.

The RULE is that everyone said to be saved in the Bible was baptized.

However, the thief on the cross was CONVERTED without baptism.

Therefore, the deluded say that if ONE person was saved without baptism (even though Christian Baptism wasn't in effect) then the RULE is that if you question any one's salvation YOU are judgmental. Never mind that this mind set drives off half of your "audience."

But, the non-delusional people would say that the EXCEPTION proves the RULE. But they say that if YOU even teach baptism from your own pulpit YOU are such a majestic figure that YOU pass judgment on all of those who ever lived and were never baptized.

Hi, the topic about water baptism brings salvation really concerns me. I hope that the ones that interpret the scriptures that you cant be saved without water baptism know without a shadow of a doubt that it is true. There are going to be alot a people going to hell on this concept, and the ones that really believe this should be knocking on doors daily to tell individuals about this, and if you are not, I would hate to be in your shoes on judgement day. I attended a Church of Christ Church for 17 years and I never fully believe in water baptism brings salvation. I believe it is important to be baptism, but not essential. I have a lot of loved ones that are in Hell if I were to believe this and I dont. God forgive us all in what we teach or tell people.

Debbie, we are caught in the dilema that the church is in the business of deciding who is or is not going to heaven. Nothing is more destructivly JUDGMENTAL than to DECLARE that someone is saved when they have deliberately disobeyed the LAST MAJOR commandment of God in Christ. It is NOT either judgmental or legalistic to TEACH the Word as it has been taught.

The church has ONE major mandate: to teach the Word as it has been taught. In Scripture making a DISCIPLE included preaching the gospel and then BAPTIZING and TEACHING whatever Jesus taught and inspired the apostles to teach.

The DISCIPLES (meaning students) were identified as CHRISTIANS or Christ followers in Antioch.

The only way to make a DISCIPLE is to baptize them and teach them.

Therefore, only DISCIPLES who have been ADDED to the body of CHRIST are identified as CHRISTIANS in the BIBLE as the only resource for the CHRISTIAN SYSTEM of discipline or school.

It is not honest to define what the Bible SAYS based on what I would like to do for my ancestors. If we DISCIPLE people rather than to shatter their spirits with PRAISE SINGING then we have done ALL that God put into our hands. FAITH ONLY wants to play God by, as the words Jesus used claim, call God a liar.

Rubel Shelly believes that the Water Jesus brought is the Holy Spirit as a "person" giving power. However, Water and Spirit are most often connected to the Free Word (Isaiah 55). He believes that WATER baptism ceased with John and we are baptized with the Holy Spirit:

If true then we receive the gift of THE holy spirit PRIOR to the remission of sins.

But the gift of A holy spirit is placed SUBSEQUENT to baptism: and YE SHALL receive the gift of A holy spirit. Rubel appeals to Jeremiah to prove that the Spirit GUSHES out of us like WATER. However, Jeremiah was identified CRACKED POTS as those who gushed out their OWN WORDS. Jesus confirmed this by calling the clergy the "sons of the Devil" because they speak on THEIR OWN.

Jeremiah was spaking of cracked pots and cisterns which GUSH OUT the speakers word which CONTRADICTS the Words of God. Jeremiah does not speak of the POLYTHEISTIC Holy Spirit separated person of recent invention by Max Lucado and Rubel Shelly.

Rubel Shelly: "Centuries before that day, Jeremiah had spoken to Israel for Yahweh: "My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living water, and dug out cisterns for themselves, cracked cisterns that can hold no water" (Jer. 2:13).

But before Jeremiah said THAT he said THIS:

WHAT MUST THEY DO?

I can think of only a few motives for rejecting the Bible and 1525 years of church history about baptism.

First, they are AGENTS of an alien power. Jesus identified the Jewish clergy as SONS of the Devil becaust THEY SPEAK ON THEIR OWN.

Second, the follow the Purpose Driven Cult or Promise Keepers and think that it is moral to INFILTRATE and steal the church houses of widows.

Third, and possibly worst of all, Rubel concludes chapter five of first john by the usual appeal to community which is a RELIGIOUS COMMUNE. By removing Christ they have no COMPETITION. They can even use singers to stand in the holy place claiming to be God by "leading the worshipers into the presence of God."

Remember that the Lucifer Principle of the "singing and harp- playing prostitute was to BLEED OFF worship due God and get to ascend and be MORE IMPORTANT through programs and bribery using widows living than even God Himself.

I wish there was ONE Shellyite who had the will or courage to defend what they are PROCURING at a price too high in order to LEAD your church away from the TRUE suffering Christ to the Rock and Roll "christ." Don't you get a sick feeling in your stomach when they lie about THE LAW OF GIVING and heap it on the lust for MEGA-TEMPLES and popularity of the social gospel?

Can't you HEAR? No, you cannot. The ROLE of musical music is to drive you into a charismatic mode where the RIGHT BRAIN cannot filter out the error slathered with honey along with the constant STINGS against your betters.

It is your battle and it may be YOUR ONLY chance to determin WWID? We know what Jesus would do: he would drive out the money changers.

I have commented (briefly) on John Waddey's review of GOD'S HOLY FIRE. Interesting? Zoe and Rubel Shelly hold their LOOK TO THE HILLS musical idolatry (mountain god is PAN and the "horns" are musical instruments in Revelation). Their theme in Phoenix was something like LIGHTING THE FIRES. This speaks of the FIRES which will consume the little PAN characters tooting on their flutes trying to dominate their little mountain kingdom.

I am never sure about the end-times but I am ALWAYS SURE that we will be as fooled as the Jews in the first advent. For instance the battles of Armageddon speak more of POLEMIC battles of Words than battle of the Worlds. Aren't we more in war with the IDEALS of Islam than in literal war? In churches of Christ we are in an ARMAGEDDON against new JUDAISERS who lust to adopt the "because of transgression" Law again.

The prophesy against Asyria was also against Jerusalem and Egypt:

Stand fast: there is only so much GAS to blow the winds and the tempest will be over and God will REMOVE this end-time band of LITTLE HORNS of the PAN PIPES. You missed the point: Paul says that the first principle of the gospel is PROTOS meaning a prototype. That includes EVERYTHING Jesus as the Christ did for humans who CANNOT become a CHRIST (unless you believe in Believer's baptism). Therefore, what GOD has done has no value for the empty believer unless God tells us how to APPLY the fact that the WAY or DOOR or NARROW WAY can be entered and followed. But, the WAY is extremely narrow and hard to find because of the MAJORITY standing around hiding it to make it straig.

However, the ONE Who dies gets to decide how to bestow the meaning TO WE WHO ARE NOT Christ. It is called a will: when One makes a will the heirs get the FREE GIFT by conforming to the conditions of the LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT. No "faith only" person would refuse to SIGN AND CASH the check as the "symbol" of a million dollar inheritance which HE could never earn. The "beliveth nots" only use their dogma against spiritual mysteries which MOST cannot see. That is why Jesus spoke in a language which those who are NOT OF THE FAITH or not INTERESTED in spiritual things cannot understand. Only a tiny, tiny remnant will be saved by AUTOMATICALLY wanting to be baptized WHEN (if ever) they hear the GOSEL command to baptize believers: believeth nots have already signed up with Satan and that is why Jesus used a word which means traitors or infidels.

In the culture of the time one did not get adopted or become a DISCIPLE without the parent or teaching master washing you and giving you a NEW NAME. Otherwise, you could not be a heir or learn the SECRET MYSTERIES of Paul the Tentmaker. Jesus spoke that fact to prove that one CANNOT or SHALL NOT see the kingdom of God unless they are converted or, being already born of flesh, being BORN AGAIN of Water and Spirit.

In the fulfilment of several prophecies about Messiah coming to WASH the faithful and BAPTIZE WITH FIRE the unbelievers, Mark used the word BEGINNING or ARCHE which means the "FIRST PRINCIPLES" or "foundation" of the gospel. Because we are NOT JESUS CHRIST and live POST PENTECOST, we cannot, like the thief on the cross, die for our our sins. Mark then launches into the baptism of John AND the disciples of Christ to show how believers are added to Christ the absolute FOUNDATION as a PROTOTYPE.

Now, Paul says that we obey THAT FORM or Pattern or anti-type of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. FORM means anti-type or INSTEAD OF. We are baptized in imitation of the PROTOTYPE Gospel of Christ INSTEAD OF DYING on the cross or being drowned in the flood or INSTEAD OF drowing in the Red Sea. We all DESERVE to be DROWNED with millstones around our necks. However, God PROMISED that He would never do that again. Peter says that BAPTISM lets us escape our JUST PUNISHMENT by REQUESTING salvation from God BY having our bodies washed but NOT like taking a bath. Now, how could anyone show GRACE through FAITH better than letting us escape the DROWNING POOL by going down in DEATH but then being raised to SPIRITUAL LIFE.

There is no example of a person saved by GRACE through FAITH who has not been baptized. Only AFTER baptism are they identified as BELIEVING or BELIEVERS. Only baptized believers are ADDED to the church which can ONLY be done by Christ and have their SPIRITS translated into a heavenly realm. That is, they have been picked out or ELECTED (which means INVITED) out of tribes and nations to MOVE AWAY from the earth before all of its elements are CONSUMED with fire. I believe that this may be ARMAGEDDON (the battle of the little hills wanting to become bigh mountains) or a POLEMIC battle or War of Words instead of the War of the Worlds. God promises that they will GET PREGNANT on straw and GIVE BIRTH to stubble: they will BURN themselves by the "spirit" of their OWN BREATH. I believe that any discerning believer can feel God's ten thousands of saints or angels directing the battle.

How else, could a spiritual "father" suddenly turn on and DEVOUR their own "children"? There were about 40,000 of the WARRIORS trained at PK 66 and launched the war in 1997. SEVEN YEARS will end in 2004: just in time.

Jesus Who fulfilled the PROTOTYPE and the total Bible and early church history until Zwingli, the preacher of the pagan Believer's Baptism, REFUSE to call God a LIAR by agreeing that he that believeth (the word includes obedience) AND IS baptized shall be Saved. If you are NOT saved then you are DAMNED because you think that I DON'T HAVE TO OBEY GOD.

Those who do not call Peter and Paul LIARS believe that BELIEVERS who then REPENT and are BAPTIZED for or in order to the remission of Sins (as Jesus said) have their sins Remitted.

In Ephesians two, the PROOF OF SALVATION by Grace Through Faith BEGINS with Paul defining BAPTISM as the way in which God's GRACE THROUGH FAITH raises us up. Faith Only PICTURES nothing. Paul goes on in Ephesians 2 to prove that Baptism (the subject of Ephesians Two), SHOWS the GLORY of Grace through faith until Jesus Christ returns.

Let's see that again which was the way it was seen until Zwingli who said that NO DOCTOR BEFORE ME UNDERSTOOD HOW BAPTISM DOES NOT SAVE. Now, the CONCENSUS for the first 1525 years understood that God WASHES or SPRINKLES our SPIRITS with the "blood" at and ONLY at the time we submit our BODIES to be washed with pure water. That is why it is A sanctified or A holy spirit.

You cannot refute that, as almost everyone does, without calling God a Liar and being MARKED as a "Believeth not" or one who "Rejects" the command of God in REFUSING the baptism of John AND Jesus THROUGH His disciples.

Jesus BEQUETHED a washing IN ORDER for Him to live in our SPIRIT which becomed "A" holy spirit ONLY when we submit ourselves to Him and, as in 1 Peter 3:21, to REQUEST A clear conscience which means A holy spirit.

Again, those who would INFILTRATE and DIVERT and steal church houses of widows, as they will FAIL to do in Hohenwald, and who have Zwingli as their spiritual "Father" so profoundly that they will repudiate ALL AS LIARS who lived B.M. (before me). They repudiate the FIRST GOSPEL and the FIRST DEATH of Christ and claim that it is ONLY for the Jews just as Catholics REPUDIATE the first body and blood of Christ which was not GOOD ENOUGH FOR "ME." As at Madison the GREY HAIRS in Hohenwals are expendible and THAT is the mark of one who says: it is CORBAN and proves that the SPIRIT cannot live in them.

Baptists in accepting BELIEVER'S BAPTISM adopt an ancient PAGAN BAPTISM. They insist that Christ come to them to personally die for them (first isn't good enough). Or, as the Britannica notes, that I PERSONALLY BECOME CHRIST AND DIE FOR MY OWN SINS.

Unfortunately for them, one site laments that over 50% of Baptists now believe that THEY were baptized IN ORDER TO or to REQUEST God to pour out His Grace through Faith to forgive their sins. They reject the notion that they are CHILDREN OF WRATH and have to personally WORK their way with groans and moans THROUGH the Old Testament Law of Moses, become totally CRUSHED and have the Holy Spirit save them because they were PREDESTINATED to be saved while MOST of us were created by God SPECIFICIALLY to burn in hell to PROVE that He is God and we are not.

As a few churches of Christ are falling under thieves and liars, you would be surprized how much Baptist readership I have. Baptists simply DO NOT TRUST their preachers who promise them salvation WITHOUT obeying the direct commands of God in Christ. Somehow, they trust JESUS more than a RETAILER of the Word.

There is NO Grace through Faith to those who refuse to SHOW FORTH the Glory of God whom Paul defined in the FIRST PART OF EPHESIANS TWO, until He comes again.
