Modern "AWESOME" vs. AWE/REVERENCE [cf. Etymology]

November 8 2011, 9:43 PM

In case you missed it, please read below my response to your earlier post.

Examples and References:

  • The name "Samson" is awesome. Do I revere it? NO!!!

  • The actors [fake characters] were AWESOME tonight. Performance!!!

  • "God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him." (Psalm 89:7)

  • "Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear." (Heb. 12:28)

  • "He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name." (Psalm 111:9)

Awe and Reverence VERSUS Awesome

November 8 2011, 1:49 AM

"He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name." (Psalm 111:9, KJV, ASV, ERV, AKJV, Webster's)

I was just reading an online parallel Bible translations. Out of the first 17 (I know there are more), I noted the following variances:

. AWESOME = 6 times
. All OTHERS (not "awesome") = 11
. ..... REVEREND = 5
. ..... AWE-INSPIRING = 1
. ..... TERRIFYING = 1
. ..... TERRIBLE = 2
. ..... FEARFUL = 1

I believe that the etymology of words comes into the picture here. Our modern concept of "awesome" (as translated in some of the modern versions) hardly resembles any word that is associated with "AWE" and "REVERENCE." As you can see from the other translations, AWE is very close to other expressions, such as "reverence" and "godly fear" in Heb. 12:28 -- "Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear"

This is beyond a shadow of a doubt the most divisive website I have every seen. You have created a website for nothing more than tearing apart the body of Christ. This spirit of disunity is disgusting.

How the Body of Christ Combats Liberalism, Progressivism

November 8 2011, 12:58 AM

No. This website is not causing the division. This site is showing you realism -- the ongoing division caused and created by those who are not satisfied with the simplicity of the gospel of Christ and the teachings of the apostles.

If you read and study more from this website, you will constantly see for yourself how we have described a particular group of "Christians" operating in the brotherhood -- they are a.k.a. "Change Agents."

I would encourage you to read with an open mind. Perhaps, you haven't heard before of change agents -- the wolves in sheep's clothing -- who are very unhappy with and very critical of the the New Testament church that Christ established and built. They want more than anything else to conform to how and what society and culture dictate in terms of what the body of Christ should be by their own standards, rather than in accordance with New Testament specifications.

If you are not that concerned about how these apostates are attempting to restructure the church and transforming it into Community Church-ism, then this is the wrong site for you. I hope that's not the case with you.

This is a conservative-leaning website, but we welcome those of liberal, progressive persuasion, as you can see from the ongoing discussions. Its main objective is to provide information to still-peaceful congregations, as well as individual Christians to beware -- the change agents are seeking those whom they may devour (divide, conquer and acquire!!!).

We Disciples of Christ don't DO music when Jesus meets to be our only Teacher.

November 8 2011, 9:42 PM

Degree objectives

With this major, you will:

1. Study and reflect on worship as a way to partner with Gods Spirit in forming church communities into the image of Christ.
2. Learn the ways that music can spiritually form a congregation.
3. Gain a solid theological foundation in the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, and a basic understanding of New Testament Greek.
4. Study the principles of New Testament doctrine and how those are applied to daily life and ministry. By studying both music and church history, students will look at the ways that music has historically been used to worship God.
5. Study musical traditions from non-Western cultures, learning how to help people of various cultures praise God in their own language and their own heart music.
6. Through music conducting and ensemble classes, students will learn to form, work in and direct musical groups and arrange music for those groups to perform.

Based on Christ's definition in Jeremiah 23 I believe that this is blasphemy of the Holy (adjective) Spirit OF (preposition) Christ. As well as missingG Greek 101 where the Spirit of Christ OUTLAWED "vocal or instrumental rejoicing" in the Church of Christ in the wilderness which quarantined all of the 'redeemable' people from the curse of the sacrificial system.

Romans 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak,
and not to please ourselves. [outlaws all of the performing or hypocritic arts and crafts John calls sorcerers]
Romans 15:2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. [Education ONLY]
Romans 15:3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written,
The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Romans 15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
Romans 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

Are there no Christians--Disciples (only) of Christ (only) at ACU? Don't you know, have ye not read?

This Site is a Cancer

November 8 2011, 6:32 PM

Right on the mark Jordan....this site is a cancer.
Donnie, this is NOT a conservative-leaning site. It abuses the very Word of God and those who support this site are so much alike the pharisees that Jesus warned against. The Jews/Pharisees who didn't believe in Jesus wanted to protect their religious traditions.....just as you do.

Change Agents: Spreading Spiritual AIDS

November 8 2011, 8:54 PM

You are trying too hard to associate yourself with the conservatives. It's not going to work. Liberalism is in your system, just like it is with the change agents--your mentors.

As Bill Lockwood puts it in his article "Spiritual AIDS," he states:

"As congregations are being siphoned off into this newfangled faddishness ... the cure is the Gospel of Christ - unmixed with popular error. It is not a message riddled with doses of ecology theology, equal rights for women agendas, or even a worship designed to make every sinner 'feel good' about himself. But without the strong doctrinal dose, our immunity to malady is broken down. Spiritual AIDS. Protected from nothing. Accepting of everything."

This site is as close to the teachings and principles laid out in the New Testament, taught by our forefathers in the Restoration Movement, as it is as far from the change agents with their cohorts and disciples (like you) and their scheme to transform the church into fellowship with the Community Church denomination. The liberal change agents and their ardent followers have no backbone to reject the social gospel and denominationalism.

Yes, right on, Bill Lockwood: "Spiritual AIDS. Protected from nothing. Accepting of everything."

Scribes, Pharisees, Preachers, Theologians, Musicians, Hypocrites

November 8 2011, 9:17 PM

Preachers from ACU are trained by advanced degrees (212f) as "Channelers to Facilitate the demise of the ANTI-instrumental Church of Christ (direct quote). Jesus spoke in parables to all of the religious teknokrats because they had no right to know.

Only rhetoricians, singers, instrument players and actors are defined as "hypocrites." That's why Christ outlawed the for the Church of Christ in the wilderness and provided no role nor dole so by definition when people "infiltrate and divert" your church to make it a "theater for holy entertainment" they cannot DECLARE WARE until they first teach how to hate the Bible literate.

So training preachers to be sowers of discord is only trumped by blaming those they shoot with bleeding on their dancing slippers.

This web site is not part of or approved by any Church!

...........................THE BOOK

What Happened at the Madison Church of Christ?

There are thousands of churches being taken over across America.

This book is only about one of those churches. It's about the Madison Church Of Christ. By studying the methods used here along with the resource references you might be able to inoculate your church. At the very least you will recognize the signs early on.

Many of the current members of the Madison Church of Christ still don't know what happened.
Some never will know! This book is for them as well.

Madison Church of Christ was a 60 year old church. At one time it was one of the largest churches in the US, and the largest Church of Christ.

It thrived for many years on the vision of it's elders and those of it's ministers. Those visions undoubtably came from the the inspired word of Jesus Christ.

At sometime in the last 10 years there was a deliberate plan by a majority of the elders to take the Madison Church of Christ into a more worldly realm.

They used secrecy, covert planning, and outside sources to scheme and to change the format and direction of the Madison Church of Christ.

The Elders knew that the membership would never approve such a plan. Using the tools of the "Community Church Movement"(consultants, books, seminars, meetings, planters, seeders) they slowly started initiating change so it was never noticed by the members until it was too late.....

At the heart of the plan was the fact that old members were going to be driven off so new techniques could be used to go out and reach the unchurched through new "Contemporary Holy Entertainment" methods developed by the "Community Church Movement"

Old members had to be kept on board long enough to get their plans ready, or the funds would not be there to pay for the new building. So by the plans very nature, it had to be secret.

The church had no plan in effect to renew or approve elders. There was never any need. The elders had always been "as approved by God". 10 of the last 15 elders would begin to shed some doubt on that.

The Elders did not even need a majority at first, because some of the elders went along unwittingly.

This edition starts shortly after some of the members begin to smell something strange in January 2001. Later editions may go back and fill in some of the timeline.

To even start to understand whats happening here, you must read the background materials in the first of the book.

This is only the first edition, and not the end. New editions will be printed as needed. To keep abreast of current changes, please visit our web site;

Here is the list of players;

5 Godly Elders
10 Not so Godly Elders
120 "Deacons" (allegiance unknown)
2,800 - 4,000 church "members"
2 "teners" (people who have publicly confessed to have broken all ten commandments)
Unknown number of "sinners" (This is what the 10 elders call us.)
Unknown number of "demons" (Flying everywhere, to many to count)
