Ken, you said..."Remember that I told you that..."
Yes, Ken, I do remember that you told me.
That is why I continue to listen to what God says, instead of what you say.
You say one thing while God says something different.
I look to the Author of Truth....Our Lord My God.....for the Right Answers....The ONLY Answers.
Your Greek mythology is no match for God's Word.

If someone gave you an original New Testament you couldn't read a single word or define a single word without scholarship.
The only way anyone can define a word is to see how the word was used in the literature of the time.
If you read a translation into English you still would not be able to read it unless you had spend a long time learning how to define words. You are simply without hope in the world if you do not want to know what Paul knew when he wrote his epistles.
It is pretty wacko if you spend your money on a preacher and insist that he not know how to define words. One Greek word might be translated by 70 English words. If you do not know the context and how such words were used in contemporaneous literature you simply cannot understand the simpliest of biblical concepts.
Don't judge others by your unwillingness to be literate in the historical literature. You didn't even know--and neither did your preacher--that rising up to play was musical and sexual idolatry.
Paul uses word like "Sporting" and "Reveling" and the only way to know what that meant is to see what the words meant in the literature. Or you might be like one of the GCM FORUM who wanted to go to worship and revel with God.
You are Better Than the Translators

Ken, you said "If you read a translation into English you still would not be able to read it unless you had spend a long time learning how to define words. You are simply without hope in the world if you do not want to know what Paul knew when he wrote his epistles."
Why would I need to translate from latin,, Greek, or Hebrew into English? Can you do it? Nevermind....I forgot you have terminal degrees in all the ancient languages.
See what I mean? You believe that you can interpret the Word better than the KJV translators. You don't believe that God can/did use these mean to His Glory? You believe that God would allow His Word to be diluted and polluted by men. God USED those men to make sure His Word was accurate.
Go get your pointed hat and your red robe and buy you a confessional booth and charge entrance. You believe that God would give you explanation of the Word personally, and hide it from everyone else. I see clearly now pope Ken. Make sure that when they confess to you Ken and you steal the widow's money that the only way that they can leave is by kissing your hand.
You deserve it. You will certainly get it.

Galatians 5 Music

Galatians 5 Music witchcraft Gender Mark
Jay Guin, the Crace Centered Forum (our old Marc friend) appeals to Galatians 50 to justify doing what Galatians 5 outlaws.
If you cannot define words you cannot understand a sentence and you cannot read the Bible.
Galatians 5:12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
A. Based on the words Paul uses pointed to the emasculated priests of the mother goddess, Paul intends to CUT OFF the musical performers in the same way the priests were made eunuchs:
Apo-kopt , a.ta genntika, of eunuchs, Ph.1.89: abs., apokekommenos eunuch, LXXDe.23.1, cf.Luc.Eun.8:Med., make oneself a eunuch, Ep.Gal.5.12, cf. Arr.Epict.2.20.19.
The Levites were males but had to perform the role of women as did David. His praise word is:
B. John Chrysostom understood Paul's message.
Chrysostom's Commentary on Galatians:
Galatians 5:1.-"With freedom did Christ set us free; stand fast therefore.115 ."
"I would that they which unsettle you would even cut themselves off." And he says well "that unsettle you."
"A man that is heretical after the first and second admonition refuse." (Tit. iii: 10) If they will,
let them not only be circumcised, but mutilated.
Where then are those who dare to mutilate themselves; seeing that they draw down the Apostolic curse, and accuse the workmanship of God, and take part with the Manichees? ... But if you will not allow this,
why do you not mutilate the tongue for blasphemy, the hands for rapine, the feet for their evil courses, in short, the whole body?
For the ear enchanted by the sound of a flute hath often enervated the soul;
and the perception of a sweet perfume by the nostrils hath bewitched the mind, and made it frantic for pleasure .
Paul wants your knife to slip so that you emasculate yourselves as did the priests of the Mother Goddess. A cappella intends to imitate them using falsetto.

I recommend Erasmus' in praise of Folly.
Take away this salt of life, and the orator may even sit still with his action,
......the musician with all his division will be able to please no man,
......the player be hissed off the stage,
......the poet and all his Muses ridiculous,
...... the painter with his art contemptible,
......and the physician with all his slip-slops go a-begging.
As if anyone hearing an ass bray should take it for excellent music, or a beggar conceive himself a king. And yet this kind of madness, if, as it commonly happens, it turn to pleasure, it brings a great delight
......not only to them that are possessed with it but to those also that behold it,
...... though perhaps they may not be altogether so mad as the other,
......for the species of this madness is much larger than the people take it to be.
For one mad man laughs at another, and beget themselves a mutual pleasure.
Nor does it seldom happen that he that is the more mad, laughs at him that is less mad.
Or to what purpose is it I should mind you of our professors of arts? Forasmuch as this self-love is so natural to them all that they had rather part with their father's land than their foolish opinions;
......but chiefly players, fiddlers, orators, and poets,
......of which the more ignorant each of them is,
......the more insolently he pleases himself,
......that is to say vaunts and spreads out his plumes.
......And like lips find like lettuce; nay, the more foolish anything is,
......the more 'tis admired, the greater number being ever tickled at the worst things,
......because, as I said before, most men are so subject to folly.
This is important because when God pours out the WINESKINS of His wrath the word is ORGE or He turns seemingly sane men into singers, rhetoricians, jesters and buffoons.
[941b] if convicted. Theft of property is uncivilized, open robbery is shameless: neither of these has any of the sons of Zeus practiced, through delight in fraud or force. Let no man, therefore, be deluded concerning this or persuaded either by poets or by any perverse myth-mongers into the belief that, when he thieves or forcibly robs, he is doing nothing shameful, but just what the gods themselves do.1 That is both unlikely and untrue; and whoever acts thus unlawfully is neither a god at all nor a child of gods;
......Hermes is specially in mind, as notorious for his thefts and frauds;
......Mutholog-os , ho,
......A. teller of legends, romancer, joined with poiêtês, Id.R.392d, cf. 398b, Lg.664d, Thphr.HP4.13.2, LXX Ba.3.23; used of Hdt. by Arist. GA756b6.
[941c] and this the lawgiver, as it behoves him, knows better than the whole tribe of poets. He, therefore, that hearkens to our speech is blessed, and deserves blessing for all time; but he that hearkens not shall, in the next place, be holden by this law:--If anyone steals any piece of public property, he shall receive the same punishment, be it great or small. For he that steals a small thing steals with equal greed, though with less power, while he that takes a large thing which he has not deposited does wrong to the full;
[620c] [620c] After her, he said, he saw the soul of Epeius,1 the son of Panopeus, entering into the nature of an arts and crafts woman. Far off in the rear he saw the soul of the buffoon Thersites 2 clothing itself in the body of an ape. Pithêkos A. ape, monkey, 2. nickname for a trickster, jackanapes,
A Question for Ken
March 30 2011, 4:32 PM
If a person knew nothing about God but knew the English language well, and picked up a KJV Bible......could he come to know about the salvation of our Lord? Could this person know how to come to salvation without any other person counseling him, or any other written works besides this KJV? No Greek, no Hebrew, no commentaries, ONLY the Bible.
Re: A Question for Ken
March 30 2011, 5:30 PM
The overwhelming majority could not because the majority is tasked to "take away the key to knowledge.
They say baptism FOR the remission of sins or baptized THAT your sins be remitted really means "Baptized BECAUSE your sins have been remitted." And they work really hard to find some historical connection which makes "eis" mean "because of." They cannot but they lie. Therefore, you have to search all of the ancient literature and find that EIS is NEVER used to meal because of. Only a tiny few will escape the false teachers.
"SPEAK to yourselves with 'that which is written for our learning.'
Means "SING that which simple simon the singy-clappy wrote for our entertainment.
SPEAK to yourselves in Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual songs.
Means "Sing to the audience with Twila Paris or Fanny Crosby.
Singing AND making melody IN THE HEART
Really means "singing" instead of speaking and "making melody upon a HARP.
Psallo never at any time or place in recorded history meant playing a harp or melody in a tuneful sense.
Really means use instruments because Psallo is used IN THE SAME SENTENCE with a harp
The Bible and all historical scholars see the musical instrument as outlawed specificially and by minimal common reverence.
They say the Bible NEVER says anything against instruments, that God gets aroused by instruments, and that historic church scholars never say anything against instruments based on the Bible.
Since the majority of "scholars" don't know anything about the Greek language at the time of the Bible, the majority of churchers will rob their children to support them. Therefore, old engineers have to read the text and post it for the dozen or so people who care.
If THEY say God loves instrumental music while Jesus comes to teach only when the elders teach that which has been taught, then someone NOT wise or prudent will have to tell the world that the MANY involved in any religion will be false teachers: Apostates and Profits.
And if they don't like it, they can refute my postings if they have any testesterone left. If not, no problem: my job is to research and post and send it out into the world and not worry about whether people care enough to reject songs and sermons and become a DISCIPLE.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Jeremiah 27:9 Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:
Revelation 17 says you WILL serve the Babylon Mother of Harlots and they burn sorcerers who in Revelation 18 are lusted after fruits: speakers, singers, instrument player.

Wrong answer Ken! You get to sit in the corner with the dunce cap on. That is what is so beautiful about the Word. Anyone that has knowledge of right and wrong CAN know the plan of salvation by just reading only the Word of God. Ken, YOU don't need to translate for everyone. The Spirit will guide them to know what God wants them to do if their souls are ripe for the harvest.
KNOW THIS KEN......if you were ever wrong, you were wrong on that one. No opinion, but facts! Just the facts!

I'm sure the Ethiopian eunuch had a basic knowledge of right and wrong, but even after reading the Scriptures, he didn't understand. He needed someone like Philip to teach him about salvation. When people don't understand the Scriptures, they need a Spirit-filled person who is thoroughly knowledgeable in that area to teach them. The Spirit often does work through people to teach them about salvation, as the case of the eunuch and Philip demonstrates.
Prime Example Indeed
March 31 2011, 8:24 PM
The question was asked if the person COULD come to know salvation through Jesus without any counsel.
They could. The Word is that straightforward. The Spirit can also help the one who is reading alone.
It is man who, in many instances, fouls it up with his interpretation.
A prime example is concernedmembers.com

If Dave will take the time to read my post more carefully, he will note that I said WHEN a person didn't understand the Scriptures, he needed a Spirit-filled teacher. I didn't say a person ALWAYS needed a human teacher. Once again, Dave jumped to conclusions in order to sow discord.
Yes, the Word is straightforward to those who are willing to let it teach them. Man fouls the Word with his unscriptural interpretations by ADDING doctrinal practices that are NOT present in the New Testament. A prime example is the ADDITION of other forms of music to the worship assembly than the vocal music specified in the New Testament. Another example is the claim that a person is saved and his sins are forgiven when he chants the so-called "Sinner's Prayer," and that baptism is just an afterthought.

Which sounds better?
The Spirit often does work through people to teach them about salvation, as the case of the eunuch and Philip demonstrates.
