The Disciples of Christ have enticed Gary Holloway to work on Churches of Christ by making him the EXECUTIVE director or something.

Beginning with John York, Rubel Shelly and now John Mark Hicks etal, the postmodern view is that the Bible is filled with fragment narratives which WE can use to write ourselves in as a GREATER than Moses or even Christ: didn't He say you will do greater works.

This new heresy does NOT speak for the body of Disciples of Christ, Independent Christian Churches of Christ. Have you noted the exodus of Episcopal priests because of the acceptance of homosexuality?

A World History of the Stone-Campbell Movement is a defacto lie. There was never any "joining" between the Disciples of Christ-Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.

http://www.piney.com/A.World.History.of.the.Stone-Campbell.Movement.html

Men like John Mark Hicks has joined in a Disciples of Christ effort to use the "guilt clause" to blame non-instrumental churches of Christ for being sectarian. They could hardly be sectarian and "United and in fellowship with all who confessed Jesus Christ" at the same time.

Since they claim that churches of Christ are "historyless" in refusing to accept the decrees of church councils, I have listed some "history" beginning with the instrumental fall from grace with no redemption at Mount Sinai. Furthermore, contrary to the writings of John Mark Hicks, Alexander Campbell rejected "fellowship with the sects." The "fellowship" that John Mark and his henchman, Bobby Valentine, hatched up was Campbell's insistence contrary to the British churches of Christ, that UNBELIEVERS should not be refused the right to attend, stand, sing and partake of the Lord's Supper.

I would certainly fall into a dead faint if the "scholars" just guilty of terminal ignorance.

What does the Bible say

October 7 2012, 9:14 PM

Consider Psalm 112 vs 1, 7, 8 The man who delights greatly in Gods commandments is one who will not be afraid of evil tidings and has rock hard anchoring of the soul. This is quite different from the picture of some today in prominent positions - they seem to fear losing the acceptance of men, men who themselves are confused and under the curse of a strong delusion because they don't love the truth. God is faithful to every one of his promises and we should be totally faithful to him regardless of the consequences.

Gary Holloway Lipscomb University "World Convention." John Waddey

BEYOND THE STONE-CAMPBELL MOVEMENT? -Gary Holloway

Two interesting comments I have recently received:

"Why does World Convention limit itself to unity within the Stone Campbell
Movement?"

"Our young people do not care about unity among Disciples, Christian Churches, and Churches of Christ. They care about unity with all Christians."

In fact, our mission statement says World Convention exists "to provide a means of relating the global family to the whole Church of Jesus Christ."
If that is true, then why does World Convention work to connect those in the Stone-Campbell Movement worldwide?

First of all, we are not working toward a slightly larger sectarianism, thinking that "our" churches are the only ones. Instead we are affirming our heritage of Christian unity. Indeed, from the beginning our movement thought its only reason to exist was to promote unity among all Christians.

Secondly, much of our work consists of meetings and dialogues worldwide with Christians from other traditions. Meetings like the Global Christian Forum, Christian Churches Together in the USA, and the meeting of Secretaries of World Christian Communions.

So as you support World Convention through your prayers, work, and gifts, you are participating in the work of God to unite all who believe in Jesus, so that the world might believe in him.

DOUBLE YOUR GIFT ~Gary Holloway

Remember that all gifts to World Convention through the remainder of 2012 will be matched by a group of generous donors. So if you have been thinking of making a gift, please do it today!

Gary Holloway now works for the Disciples of Christ.

Gary begins by suggesting going beyond the STONE-CAMPBELL and join in an ECUMENICAL movement with just about everyone.

God always forces such people to MARK for avoidance themselves. He claims that Jesus preached such a movement and the word is:

A. Oikoumen-2 (sc. g), h, A. inhabited region, v. oikeo A. 1 ; then the Greek world, opp. barbarian lands, The inhabited world, h philia perikhoreuei tn oi.

B. Dioik-e diksamn keep house: hence, generally, control, manage, administer, manage after one's own will and pleasure, managing to make such iniquitous profits, act collusively with ton kosmon Id.Phdr.246c;

Jesus called people OUT of the World rather than JOIN the World.

C. kosmos , ho, A. order, kata kosmon in order, duly, shamefully, generally, of things, natural order, ornament, decoration, esp. of women, metaph., of ornaments of speech, such as epithets, to sing sweet songs of praise, world-order, universe, first in Pythagoras, of earth, as opp. heaven, 3. in later Gr., = oikoumen, the known or inhabited world, 5. houtos ho k. this present world, i.e. earth, OPPOSITE. heaven, Ev.Jo.13.1; regarded as the kingdom of evil, ho arkhn tou k. toutou ib.12.31.

And the Blogites just drool all over Gary who was part of the Lipscomb University ecumenical move.

Treason in high places

October 15 2012, 5:31 PM

Quoting Gary Holloway on Barton W. Stone admires the "circle of fire" of letting the "Holy Spirit" guide you into union quotes and proves the point

Phyllis Tickle, long-time religion editor at Publishers Weekly,

Such a tectonic shift in American Protestantism opens the door for publishers to offer books and materials about and for the new players in a changed religious landscape.

So its all about merchandising. speaking of encouraging children who trusted Lipscomb University.

My own experience teaching in a university where 70% of the students are from a cappella Churches of Christ confirms this cultural shift away from the importance of denominational labels to a deep concern for relational and spiritual union. It is not unusual in a typical week for our students to attend a Monday night instrumental (!) praise worship at a local Church of Christ, a Tuesday night ecumenical teaching session at First Baptist downtown, Wednesday night church at a fairly traditional Church of Christ, and Thursday night Taize worship at a Presbyterian church - all before going home on the weekend to their parents' Church of Christ where many think we are the only Christians!

Of course, no Baptist or Presbyterian college would encourage their students to want to merge with churches of Christ. Students ACT out what Holloway etal have encouraged them to do rather than teaching the the Word as it has been taught."

make merchandise out of you

October 23 2012, 8:28 PM

This thread reminds me of 2 Pet 2 where the spirit tells us to beware of those who will exploit the saints using deceptive words. We should be reminded that the way of truth will be blasphemed by this crowd and that many will follow.

We should be reminded of the countermeasures to be employed by all who wish to be faithful. In Psalm 119 we are reminded that the faithful will lie awake through the night watches meditating on Gods word. That speaks to the dependency that God wants us to have on his word.

Church growth experts are no substitute for the living word of God! Neither is the works of denominational scholars a substitute for the plain and simple practices found in the word of God!

...........................THE BOOK

What Happened at the Madison Church of Christ?

There are thousands of churches being taken over across America.

This book is only about one of those churches. It's about the Madison Church Of Christ. By studying the methods used here along with the resource references you might be able to inoculate your church. At the very least you will recognize the signs early on.

Many of the current members of the Madison Church of Christ still don't know what happened.
Some never will know! This book is for them as well.

Madison Church of Christ was a 60 year old church. At one time it was one of the largest churches in the US, and the largest Church of Christ.

It thrived for many years on the vision of it's elders and those of it's ministers. Those visions undoubtably came from the the inspired word of Jesus Christ.

At sometime in the last 10 years there was a deliberate plan by a majority of the elders to take the Madison Church of Christ into a more worldly realm.

They used secrecy, covert planning, and outside sources to scheme and to change the format and direction of the Madison Church of Christ.

The Elders knew that the membership would never approve such a plan. Using the tools of the "Community Church Movement"(consultants, books, seminars, meetings, planters, seeders) they slowly started initiating change so it was never noticed by the members until it was too late.....

At the heart of the plan was the fact that old members were going to be driven off so new techniques could be used to go out and reach the unchurched through new "Contemporary Holy Entertainment" methods developed by the "Community Church Movement"

Old members had to be kept on board long enough to get their plans ready, or the funds would not be there to pay for the new building. So by the plans very nature, it had to be secret.

The church had no plan in effect to renew or approve elders. There was never any need. The elders had always been "as approved by God". 10 of the last 15 elders would begin to shed some doubt on that.

The Elders did not even need a majority at first, because some of the elders went along unwittingly.

This edition starts shortly after some of the members begin to smell something strange in January 2001. Later editions may go back and fill in some of the timeline.

To even start to understand whats happening here, you must read the background materials in the first of the book.

This is only the first edition, and not the end. New editions will be printed as needed. To keep abreast of current changes, please visit our web site; http://www.concernedmembers.com/madison

Here is the list of players;

5 Godly Elders
10 Not so Godly Elders
120 "Deacons" (allegiance unknown)
2,800 - 4,000 church "members"
2 "teners" (people who have publicly confessed to have broken all ten commandments)
Unknown number of "sinners" (This is what the 10 elders call us.)
Unknown number of "demons" (Flying everywhere, to many to count)
