Calm Down My TBX - Reply

I am 20 years old, have 8/9 years experience and live in Laindon. I work in London so can only take on a horse over weekends.

I have had my fair share of highly strung horses but I can't promise he will be my cup of tea but I will visit and try him out if you like.

Let me know where he is stabled as I cannot travel too far. Either way I would be grateful if you would let me know.

Thanks.

DO NOT TRY

I would advise strongly to anyone thinking of trying out this horse!

The horse has a lovely temperament, don't get me wrong, but you will be fighting a losing battle.

In my opinion the only way a horse can reach its potential is if it is kept in a well-kept area with the proper facilities and that it is looked after (i.e. appropriate food, water and bedding etc) and given lots of time - evidently not offered in this home!

The horse cannot be calmed down/schooled properly in the environment it is in as it is unsuitable to graze in, let alone exercise in. The area is full of hazards and the horse is looked after (if that is what you can call it) by a group of inexperienced children whose parents gave them a horse (a real living being) in an attempt to keep them occupied which is why the girl is now asking other people to ride it (because she is incapable of caring for it and is ignorant as to what a horse requires).

If you have bones made of iron and patience that can last eternity then be my guest!! You have been warned...

I can agree with the person who wrote the above message. I have been to see this particular pony too and was not impressed with the way in which it was kep.

If the conditions of the stables and the yard were any better I would have considered loaning him. I did not have a problem with the horse just the environment.

Surely if you are concerned about the horses wellfare and well being, would it not be worth asking the person who wishes to have help, to loan the horse elsewhere - alternatively the person loaning may be grateful of some help and advice. If the area isn't particularly safe then perhaps help in clearing the area would be a good start? We should be available to help and advise other equine lovers, of course if advice is not accepted then there is nothing more you can do, but surely its worth a try?

Your advice is good, but in that case there is nothing we can do as advice was offered and was also given as the reason for not loaning. It was thrown back in my face and received very badly.

shouldn't the case be reported to an equine welfare group? or local council enviroment/trading standards dept to order a tidy-up of the place??
It seems a shame that no-one is able to help - especially as the horse doesn't seem past it!..Oh well...if you've tried............
