Cheers W.H

Well today work has started on the foils.
I have decided to use gear shift levers from rear mech of an old mountain bike to shift as they are small, easy to operate and will provide 35mm-45mm of travel on the cable end. They also lock into position so no return springs on the cams should be needed.

There will be one for each side mounted just forward of the seat area, and the cables replaced with high grade stainless steel inners and good quality sleeves.

The cables will run through rear deck area and exit in void at rear where they will connect to an arm on the cam shaft via a bolt type clamp.

The two shafts(one each side of beam)will have three cams attached to them which will protude through the underside of the beam and attach to three corresponding fixed arms on the foil section via pushrods.

The connection between the rear beam and foil section will be made with solid brass hinges.

The foil section will be of laminate form with a central 3/4" timber faced on top and bottom with foam then all covered with glass fibre and epoxy. The central timber not only provides strength but will also allow the hinges and fixed arms to be mounted securly
