I know the rational for using the plank attachment system designed for the Ice Flyer. It allows the plank to detach if you hit something such as a hole in the ice.
Has anyone used the system we use on the DN for the Ice Flyer? It is plates screwed to the bottom. Threaded studds are inserted thru holes in these plates and a nut is attached. The plates are designed to pull away from the hull if you hit something. The advantage for me is the ability to use my DN planks on the Ice Flyer.
