Well...we finally got some sailable ice here in Massachusetts. I took a vacation day yesterday and went to a local lake with my new Ice Flyer. The ice was solid with a pebbly surface. The weather was great, so I rigged up along with six DNs. Unfortunately, there was no wind. I pushed my boat out onto the lake hoping it might pick up. There were a few light puffs at which time, I'd push the boat like crazy and jump in, only to come to a stop 100 feet later. The DNs didn't do any better. Later in the day, a friend showed up with a Super DN and rigged it with a Gambit sail, thinking the bigger sail might catch some wind. Wrong...when there is no wind, nobody moves. Around 3:00pm it started to cloud up from an approaching storm. Still no wind, so I packed up and went home. What a frustrating day. Icy rain today, so I'm hoping tomorrow will be better.

Hi Roger !

Did you get any of that snow we got in Québec last friday ?

What are the ice condition in your area and where are you sailing ?
I'm thinking , maybe i will have to cross the border if i want to sail before chrismas.

Good luck !

Roger, I'm looking forward to hearing your observations on your new Ice Flyer, compared to the DNs that you're so familiar with.
