Dear Wally:
I will be out in Golden, CO from 5 to 8 January. We built three iceflyers last year and they sail well. We have tried your death stick this year and it works great but it requires attention. One capsize after wind gust. I would like to witness how you west guys set up your boats if it is possible. My Golden, CO number will be 303-271-9326. I would gladly give up a day skiing to watch your group sail. If this fits in with your groups plans I would be delighted to meet you. Best Doug Hardy (chardy@peconic.net)

Hello Doug,

Sorry I missed you - I was out of town from end of Dec to Jan 9..

No doubt you cant be "sleeping at the wheel" with the death stick. I think the best advice with it to always uncleat when you intend to to anything other than travel in a straight line. I went over a few times when I was first using it but havent gone over for a long time now. However, since now I have said that, I am surely due for a high speed flip in the near future..

Wally: Regret that we could not connect. I went by Georgetown on the way to A basin and the ice looked great. No iceboaters but some fisherman. We have been able to sail the iceflyers earlier but now the northeast is socked in with snow and very warm weather. Hopefully, next year skiing, I will be able to see how the Colorado guys rig their boats. Best, Doug Hardy
