Roger, Im curious about how your "underside" steering pedals are working out.
You must be a pilot? Im used to the "landsailing" pedal convention (same as standard ice flyer) where its like having your feet on the handle bar of a bike. I have a sea kayak with a rudder which normally is similar to an airplane (push on right pedal to go right) and HAD to reverse the cables so that it was similar to the iceflyer - just couldnt get used to it being "backwards"..

Not a pilot, but I also have a sea kayak and was used to the pedals being set up that way. The steering feels very positive and seems to work as well as the top mounted steering rods. I made it adjustable so you can move the pedal assembly back in 2 inch increments. If I was land sailing like you, I would have used the top mounted rods. Less prone to damage and no problem with dust coming up throught the slots.
Weather permitting, I hope to sail this weekend.
