I too appreciate the spirirt of your posting. I suspect hough that the damage HAS already been done. The Fods are not a minority, maybe they're not a majority either, we certainly don't claim to speak for 2,000+ people, but the bottom line is that at each Fod forum, demonstration and vigi there have normally been around 4 -500 hundred. Add those to the 2-300 paying fans of the current team, and that leaves anything up to 1800 people who for whatever reason don't go anymore. Are they anti Bob, anti bnl or just fed up with it all? I guess we'll never really know the answer to that.
I don't claim to speak for anyone but myself, I'm sorry that miss Phillips cries because we hate her dad, but my child cries because her father made his favourite players go away. Do two wrongs make a right? Of course not!
If the fods stop their gmae night vigils, will the fans come back? I don't think so. Will the fods get "bored" and return ? Emphatically NO!
What is clear is that both the fans inside the rink (apart from rent-a-crowd) and those outside are passionate about the Devils in whichever form they take. The worry has to be that those people who just stay at home, or down the pub, or whatever it is that they now do, may NEVER come back whatever the outcome.
The soluton? Get rid of Phillips and Candy NOW, and get a professional management team in. They will have the marketing job of the century on their hands but it is the only way forward.
