Moving the Goalposts

The statement now made in response to the news looks to have been thought out for some time but is still way off the mark. I for one have never stood outside the rink or attended meetings so that "other hockey related debts" could be paid. If the players get paid then that is only right - they were not in business but were employees of the club who did not receive all monies owed - whether by dividends or salary. The campaign to have them paid is only proper and looks as though Chris Mc appreciates this.

It is wrong to now throw other debts into the same category. Any business enters into transactions on a commercial basis. Sometimes they make a profit sometimes they make a small loss - sometimes they make a big loss, even the banks get it wrong. They do however have OPEN EYES when they enter into such arrangements and if they feel it necessary they can walk away and not do business with the likes of certain businessmen, if they have doubts over being paid. For example - the coach operator who was quoted in the press as confirming he had lost a lot of money but would STILL be happy to deal with the club under new owners.

Dont hang Chris Mc out over debts which he should not be expected to even know about let alone settle. If feelings are that strong then once the players have been paid, settle the debts from the monies raised towards paying the players so far.
