Hello all, Im new to the site, very nice as a matter of fact!! Im looking for some advice/help. I have just recently managed to complete my lowlife collection, so now I am turning my efforts to other Nightshift Bands. Who are they? Is there a similar ilk of sound to Lowlife? Are any of them still around? Where can I get a hold of any of the stuff.
P.S. Does anyone have a burned copy of "Wild Women vs Rubber Fish" by Dead Neighbours? It is fantastic to hear that the band members are alive and well, and contributing to the site!!!! Amazing. My Favourite track?(this week) River of Woe from the Black Album, killer Heggie bass. Thanks for any info offered!
well i know that there are a couple more than i can think of
but the basic 2 that most can usually site, are
THIS SCARLET TRAIN
FUEL (no no not that late 90's band)
i would have to compare TST to bands like The High and the melodic
moodier borderline shoegaze/pop UK acts....not like slowdive but maybe
more like a moody Ride.
I have been having problems committing to promptness in getting folks
cd's, but i do have the availability to get these as CDR's to you.
i know there is some info on the bulk of the website.....
i also have the 2 DEAD NEIGHBOURS albums if yer interested on disk
as well.
Label Sharko II, Two Helens, Reflections in Red LP, Silver and Gold 7"". Fuel, This Scarlet Train & Pioneer Corp, Nightshift Label. Dont know the titles of their releases.
Sure I saw Fuel supporting either Lush or the Sundays at Glasgow QMU, sometime back in the very early 90s. Just caught the end of the set, as I was late getting there.
I've got the Fuel EP, featuring the quite gorgeous "Butterfly Knife"
I saw Two Helens play at The Cavern in Edinburgh with This Scarlet Train supporting. Two Helens could have been huge if it wasnt for the crap production on Reflections In Red. Keith Mitchell could have made them Rockstars. I later saw Ian Murray's rockabilly band support This Scarlet Train at a Gig in a hotel in Falkirk, it was a great gig and the gig was like a who's who of Nighshift/Sharko Label.
I was at that gig in Edinburgh. There was no-one there and Two Helens were superb. A great band. After Ian left I even sort of managed them for about a week, when I was only 16!
For anyone interested in Falkirk acts, check out my new website: http://www.geocities.com/falkirkmusicscene
Hello Stuart. I got in touch with you years ago...and luckily got a super clean recording of "fimbria" from you. That EP is still one of my favorites..."pictureframe" was such a great track. Has the same beauty and delivery of The Wake's "O Pamela".....stunning and timeless.
Hope you are well. From memory, are you still in the middle east area?
Why do I not have the Black Album? I am the greatest defender of Lowlife and I do not have the Black Album. Here is a casual vistor to the site who owns the damn album and I do not. It is a source of personal shame and I do not like it.
