All this talk of 80s indie rock...

My 2p worth...

Comsat Angels made three very good LPs and should have stopped - in fact they disappeared in the UK after 'Fiction', and I was rather unnerved by their uniform wearing sci-fi period, knowing that they were merely a motley crew from Sheffield. I never understand the British alt-rock bands that the US take to their heart - the Comsats, Catherine Wheel - both disappeared off the radar here long before they did anything in the US. Conversely it heartens me that Lowlife ment something somewhere else other than a few bedrooms in Northern Britain.

Having said that, I take it we're all grooving to Interpol. 'Turn on the Bright Lights' is missing hooks and tunes but recreates that early 80s British sound pretty well. I guess there were US bands at the time with a similar sound but I didn't hear them - I'd be happy to have some examples.
