Just wanted to thank you for the detailled description.
I have a G600 where the lens got stuck after it was accidentally switched on while in my pocket.
Removing the front cover, it was easy to see that the lens had been a bit misplaced from sideway pressure.
Gently pressing it back and testing as described did the trick.
