  • Slide duplication, T-Mount, closeup questions for D & A cams

First, my goals: Be able to put B&W 35mm negatives to digital for further enhancement and sharing. Convert my many color negs and some slides to jpeg for, um, posterity.

What I've done: Cobbled up a close up system of parts I've accumulated over the years. 49mm close up lenses, a Yashica bellows with a T-mount end that I've epoxied a 49mm ring to, a slide holder/light diffuser of unknown origins, a method of holding the above to the camera so that weight isn't on the lens, all on a backpacking tripod.

The problem: It's not easy to put together, and it isn't easy to get things aligned, zoomed as wanted, focused.

What I'm thinking: Buying a generic 35mm SLR slide/film duplicator on eBay in the range of $15. Since I cleverly epoxied a 49mm filter thread onto my T-mount, i can obviously connect said duplicator to my lens. I do realize that I will need to support the duplicator so that the load isn't on the zoom system.

My question: If I take one of those generic duplicators and fasten it to my A2, I'll probably still have to use close up lenses, no? I'm not so much concerned with that as I am that it will still work at all.

      Any experience? Thoughts?
