I love when this comes up.. yanks had the best team hands down this year, as far as salary cap is concerned look at the profits of the MLB.. over the past 10 years yanks are juss about dead last.. high payroll of course, like the sox, and angels, and dodgers.. basically any contender. what makes the yanks different is the invest in their team year after year, making them the champs. and payroll doesnt have as much to do with it as you would think, still need chemistry still need to execute and they did.. 27 ISNT A FLUKE.. All these haters(=Red Sox Fans) seem to forget that until Theo Epstein started spending cash they did not win anything. Year after year they let their players leave until he got there..No talk about them buying a championship when they won it though huh? THIS IS JUST THE START OF ANOTHER YANKEE RUN TO GLORY!!!

Actually Dan Duquette is the one who spent a lot of the $$$ to assemble that Sox team.... he also was responsible for the trades that got Pedro and Lowe/Tek in there..... Theo came in and helped build and fortify the farm system... yes, he too has spent serious coin, but his FA signings have been poor at best (Drew, Lugo, Renteria, etc....).... he genius is in the draft, farm system and trades..... it sure as hell helps when you can draft and groom ML ready players and then be able to keep them (Yanks with Mo, Jeter, etc..) (and the Sox with Youk, Pedroia, etc...) off the FA market.
That being said, the Sox spend a TON of money, always have since the advent of free agency, but when the Yankees spend $80M more then you, well think about what you can get for $80M..... i credit the Yankees and steinbrenner for what they do, they have a cash cow and spend accordingly..... it doesn't always work (see the last 8 years) but every year, they are basically a lock for the playoffs and a favorite for the title and a lot of that has to do with the $$ spent. You can talk about their home grown talent, but who is the last starting pitcher the yankees have brought up and groomed into a premier player? Andy Pettite? 15 years ago? and even look around the league for any of the trades, are there ANY yankees farm hands doing anything?

Sorry Yankee fans, I've been workin so I haven't been able to get ya backs. Ha Ha. This is just like normal haters. If we win we were suppose to because of our payroll. If we lose it's see all that money don't mean anything. People hate on new yorkers period. I'm pretty sure the red sox's have the 2nd highest payroll in the MLB. Dont get it twisted, we do got u by about 70+ million or so but u r 2nd (literally. Ha!). When you have the highest revenue in MLB u use that money. Not sit on it like some teams. So to the 2nd highest payroll and the 5th (The otha New York team), spend ya money more wisely and you won't have to cry about us and play golf in late september early october. LoL. Side note, Good luck to all in the playoffs. Be safe and play good ball. Stay up. 1 time!
