Hello All:
I am a writer in the process of writing a book on a woman named Lady Sylvia Ashley. She was known as Sylvia Hawkes in the mid-1920's when she performed as an actress at the Winter Garden Theatre and as a chorus girl at the Midnight Follies of the Metropole Hotel. She married Lord Ashley in 1927 then went on to marry several more famous men, including Lord Stanley of Alderly, Clark Gable and Douglas Fairbanks, Sr.
I know of one show she did with her friend, Dorothy Field, called "Silly & Dotty" but am looking for more information on her involvement specifically with the Midnight Follies.
She also attended the popular clubs of the time: Cafe du Paris, Embassy, Uncle's, Kit-Cat, Murray's River Club. Does anyone have any info on her or the dance bands of her time she might have known, worked with or danced to?
Any help would be most appreciated--especially photos and/or playbills or programs.
