Is this some kind of cosmic sign? Day 8 in the Countdown happens to fall on #8's 22nd Birthday! Happy Birthday to the 6-1, 215 lb. redshirt junior quarterback from Bloomington, Indiana, who was arguably the best player in college football last year and should be considered the clear favorite for the Heisman after finishing second in the Heisman balloting and receiving the 2001 AP National Player of the Year Award. He has appeared in 22 regular season games with 18 starts for 912 plays, and also started the 2001 Sugar Bowl and played in the 2002 Orange Bowl, compiling a 15-4 record as a starter (12-2 in SEC play). He has completed 390 of 607 passes for 5,762 yards and 55 touchdowns with 19 interceptions in his career for a pass efficiency rating of 167.63, which currently stands as the top efficiency rating in NCAA Division IA history for a quarterback who has completed at least 325 career passes. This season is certain to only add to the numerous records and awards he has already earned. The son of Daniel and Maureen Grossman, Rex was born on August 23, 1980 in Bloomington, Indiana. He is majoring in Travel and Tourism.
