While the public universities in Tennessee do primarily use the ACT, many private colleges do use the SAT as a measuring stick. And as you are aware, there are several major metropolitan areas located in Tennessee that border other states, where many students who graduate from Tennessee high schools attend, and they use the SAT, as well.
The SAT is becoming more and more a part of the process. My son, who is a sophomore in high school, has been advised that he needs to take both the ACT and SAT.
